Anneliese thanked him repeatedly and insisted she could be discharged on her own.
Eventually, Jonathan left with Zion.
Aside from the bruises across her waist and abdomen from Jameson’s attack, Anneliese was fine.
She carried the shopping bag into the bathroom and, upon taking out its contents, realized there was underwear inside as well.
Whether it was a coincidence or not, she couldn’t say.
But the sizes of both the clothes and the underwear fit her perfectly.
Anneliese refused to read too much into it.
When she came out of the bathroom, she powered on her phone.

She picked it up and saw that a strange number had called her more than twenty times.
Her instincts told her it was Zacharias.
She felt nothing at all, and with a swipe, she blocked the number decisively.
She then changed her emergency contact to Jessica before checking WhatsApp.

One of the photos showed Selina with her family, posing in front of the massive screen lit up with fireworks.
She smiled at the camera while shooting mini hearts.
Anneliese was reminded of her birthday when Zacharias once booked the largest outdoor screen in Oceaton, making a spectacle of celebrating her birthday.
Back then, she cried happy tears.
But as it turned out, Zacharias had long been spending lavishly on his lover, plastering her face on giant screens at famous landmarks.
He never failed to disappoint her.
Anneliese exited the chat without much thought, no longer caring about what Zacharias did.
She even hoped Selina would cling to him, delaying his return until the cooling–off period of their divorce was over.
As she left the hospital, Anneliese eyed her new autumn outfit and decided to stop by the mall.
She wanted to buy Jonathan a suit as a token of appreciation.
What she hadn’t expected was to run into Jackie there, who was out shopping with his girlfriend.
Meanwhile, Zacharias got off the plane and hurried out through the VIP passage.
He called Jackie, his voice urgent. “Where’s my wife?”
Before boarding, he had already asked Jackie to check on Anneliese.
However, Jackie hadn’t listened to the man’s orders at all.

This time, she almost had him fooled.
“You’re finally back, Zacharias! I’ve missed you so much!”

“How did you know what time I’d be back?”
