Anneliese’s face flushed with anger and embarrassment. “Mr. Harland! What on earth are you thinking? How could I possibly be pregnant?”
“But you just said the gut won’t lie, and you even made Mr. Fullbuster listen. If that’s the case… then isn’t the baby his?”

Anneliese fell silent.
She would never have guessed that polished, elite–looking Zion hid such a soft, girlish heart. But his wild imagination had only left her more embarrassed, unsure how to face the man

Zion had brought food from Amber Garden, a place so expensive it was practically legendary. Rumor had it that the chefs there descended from royal kitchens and never accepted takeout orders. Naturally, the dishes were as exquisite as they were rare.
The perks of being rich. When I finally get my five hundred million, I’ll indulge in this too, Anneliese thought.
Once Zion set everything out, he left for the night. That left only Anneliese and Jonathan at
the table.
She had no appetite for such fine food. With her head down, she ate quickly, only wanting to finish and escape the awkwardness. But then Jonathan’s slow voice came from beside her. “Clearly, you’re starving.”
Anneliese nearly choked on her food. She looked up at him, unsure if he realized the internet slang behind those words, but his calm eyes gave nothing away.
“Slow down. No one will steal it from you,” he added, his tone uncharacteristically normal.
For once, it seemed his conscience had stirred. He even poured her a glass of water and pushed it toward her.
Startled by the gesture, she picked it up with both hands, sipped, and carefully asked, “So… you’re not mad anymore?”
“Was I ever mad?”

Still, Anneliese thought Jonathan’s temper wasn’t so bad. After all, she had left him hungry until now, and instead of scolding, he was treating her to a feast.
And honestly–what CEO would tolerate a subordinate openly spreading ridiculous rumors? Zion had all but accused him of fathering her child, yet Jonathan hadn’t even docked his pay. What a decent man.
“Mr. Fullbuster, the seafood chowder is really good. You should have some.” She quickly returned the kindness, ladling a bowl and setting it before him.
Jonathan glanced at her, picked up the spoon, and said casually, “I want something lighter tomorrow morning.”
It was clearly an instruction for her to continue cooking. Smiling, Anneliese nodded. “I’ll be sure to do my job properly. By the way, what time will you be leaving in the morning?”
Already, she was planning to set two alarms the moment she got home. No way would she let him go hungry again.
