Chapter 111
Chapter 111
Lisette pressed her lips together, her eyes flickering with thoughts before finally settling into a calm expression.
Her gaze stayed locked on Zina, unblinking, as if something was still simmering deep inside her.
“Your name is Zina?” Lisette asked.
“Yeah,” Zina replied, frowning slightly as she looked up, a bit confused.
Lisette clenched her jaw, taking a sharp breath. “I’ll admit, you were right about what you said earlier. I apologize for the way I treated you before.”
“But-” Lisette’s face darkened, her words practically spat out through gritted teeth. “When it comes to Kellan, I won’t give up. You aren’t good enough for him.”
With that, Lisette turned and walked away, her figure quickly disappearing into the crowd. Zina stood there, lost and bewildered, all eyes on her.
She’d always suspected Lisette had feelings for Kellan, but hearing it said out loud was something else entirely -it left her with mixed emotions.
Zina let out a deep breath, her eyes scanning the crowd for Kellan. She looked all around but still couldn’t spot him. A flicker of panic flashed in her eyes, and her brows knitted together.
Just as Zina was starting to panic, frantically searching for Kellan, a pair of strong hands suddenly grabbed her
wrist.
“Let’s go. We should head back; things are getting dangerous here today,” Kellan said.
His lips pressed into a thin line, and for the first time, he looked truly serious.
Zina didn’t know what to say, so she just pressed her lips together and walked out with Kellan.
Once they were in the car, Kellan’s serious look didn’t go away–in fact, it only deepened, and there was even a trace of irritation in his eyes.
“You need to be extra careful these days,” he said, his voice low. “The whole situation isn’t safe right now, and what happened to you wasn’t just some accident.”
“What’s really going on?” Zina asked, her brows knitting together. She took a deep breath, her eyes clouded
with silence.
Zina turned to look at Kellan, who seemed to be struggling with something. After a few seconds, he finally spoke, his voice serious.
“There’s a foreign force that’s infiltrated the country,” he said. “It’s not safe anywhere right now, so you need to be careful. If you can, it’s better to avoid large gatherings for a while.”
