“It’s all that Kaia’s fault!”
:
Jameson sighed. “Now is not the time to blame anyone. Let’s go find Dad first.”

Kaia had just finished applying the medicine to Scott when Tobias rushed over in a fluster.
“Are you hurt?”
Looking at Tobias, who had rushed over in a dusty state, Kaia felt a little moved.
“I’m not injured, but Scott has some scratches.”
Tobias looked at Kaia’s swollen face, and his expression instantly turned grim.
“I shouldn’t have let Griffin off so easily last night.”
Kaia pursed her lips. “He has already been sent abroad and is forbidden from returning to Wustriland for the rest of his life. This is already a great punishment for him. I don’t want to mention anything about him in the future.”
From these words, Tobias could tell that Kaia did not intend to pursue the matter further.
“You’re always so kind and soft–hearted, even after all the pain he’s caused you.” Every word that Tobias spoke was filled with heartache.
“I’m not kind. I’m doing this for Keaton’s favor to my family.”
Hearing Kaia say this, Scott suddenly remembered.
“Kaia, are you saying that he did something for our family? Could he be the old man in the car who stood up for us when we were robbed and beaten when we went to the city with our parents when we were kids?”
“Yeah, that’s him.”
“And Tobias is his grandson? No wonder you two are meant to be!” Scott said, clearly impressed.
Tobias was very satisfied with what Scott said.
He reached out and patted him on the shoulder.
Just then, Tobias received a call from his father.
“Where are you?” Ryan’s voice was a little anxious.
“I’m outside.”

“So if I say I have the paternity test results, are you going to claim she faked those, too? Are you basically calling me blind? Do you really think I wouldn’t recognize my own daughter?”
The people nearby could all tell that Richard was right on the edge of exploding with rage, but even then, Rosie kept arguing.
She said, “I lived with her for so long. I know exactly what kind of person she is. I just don’t want you to be fooled.
“Why not do another paternity test? This time, have someone close to you keep an eye on the whole process.”
Even now, Rosie stubbornly refused to back down from her own version of the truth.
Zina absolutely cannot be part of the Lambert family, Rosie fumed inwardly. ‘Why does Zina get to be a member of the Lambert family?‘
‘That kind of status? One that even I can barely reach on tiptoe–how could that bitch be born with it? I refuse to believe it. Rosie’s thoughts churned with jealousy and disbelief.
But in the very next moment, Richard sneered, “I really didn’t expect someone like you to show up at a Lambert family party.
“If you can’t even accept my relationship with my daughter, then I don’t see any reason for you to stick around, do you?” he said.
He continued, “And from what you just said, it sounds like you and my daughter have quite a bit of bad blood.
“I’m not good at much, but if there’s one thing I do well. It’s standing up for my family. So why don’t you tell me–just how exactly have you been bullying my daughter?”
As soon as Richard finished speaking, Kevin suddenly shoved his way through the crowd and landed a heavy slap right across Rosie’s face.
“What nonsense are you spouting here? Do you have any idea what kind of trouble you’re in for offending Miss Lambert? Apologize to her right now,” Kevin shouted.
“Mr. Lambert, please don’t be angry. She’s not been in her right mind lately.
“I just wanted to bring her along to share in the Lambert family’s good fortune, but I never thought things would get so out of hand, Kevin said, his face pale as he forced a smile, all the while cursing Rosie a thousand times over in his heart.
Rosie never expected Kevin to slap her like that. She clutched the side of her face where his hand had landed, completely stunned, frozen in place with a blank, glassy stare.
It wasn’t until a few seconds later that she finally realized what had just happened. She whipped her head around to stare at Kevin in utter disbelief.
“Dad, how could you hit me? I was doing all this for you guys,” Rosie choked out, her voice trembling with
hurt.

Chapter 117
“Are you with Kaia?” Ryan asked, guessing.
“Yeah.”
“That’s good. Come back with her.”
Tobias thought for a while and asked, guessing, “Did Uncle Jameson and Aunt Judith come?”

“You guessed it right.” Ryan rubbed his temples with a headache, his ears filled with Judith’s scolding.
Tobias looked at Kaia. “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you.”
“I’m not afraid of this kind of thing. Besides, I’m not the one at fault,” Kaia said nonchalantly.
“Can’t you ever soften up a bit and be a little affectionate? You’re so strong that I feel useless,” Tobias said, his voice full of helplessness.
Kaia raised her eyebrows slightly and smiled. “I wouldn’t say that. You’re still somewhat useful.”
Tobias’s eyes lit up. “How so?”
“You make me roll my eyes more often.”
Tobias was speechless.
Half an hour later, Kaia arrived at the Moreno family residence with Tobias.
Just as they got out of the car, before they even reached the front door of the villa, they heard Judith’s furious voice coming from inside.
“Dad, Griffin is your grandson! Your own grandson! How could you send him abroad and not let him come back? I know you only love Tobias, but–but he still has your son’s blood in him!”
Keaton sat in his rosewood chair, looking at Judith with a commanding presence.
“I’ve told you about this several times. That little rascal isn’t learning to be good and is emulating others by kidnapping someone. Do you know what this behavior means? It means he broke the law! Do you know how kidnapping is judged? It’s a fixed–term imprisonment of more than ten years, or even life imprisonment! If Kaia hadn’t been soft–hearted, that little rascal would already be in jail!”
Kaia and Tobias walked in one after the other, not speaking, just standing aside.
Judith glared fiercely at Kaia, then said to Keaton, “Dad, can you not make things so serious? What kidnapping? Griffin just has some personal grudges with Kaia, and just deliberately took her younger brother away. These are just childish pranks. This woman is making a big deal out of it, and she’s too petty!”
Hearing Judith say this, Keaton was about to explode with anger. “You’re just like your son! Childish pranks? Kaia’s identity is so sensitive. Today, there are no outsiders present, and Kaia is being kind. If this gets out, even if Griffin is dragged out to be shot, you can’t stop it!”
Even the Moreno family couldn’t stop it!

“Shut up. What kind of nonsense are you spewing? Do you really think you can just drag Miss Lambert into this however you want?” Kevin snapped.
Kevin shoved his way right up to Rosie, glaring daggers at her as he growled in a voice only she could hear, “If you dare stir up trouble again, just wait–once we get home, you can forget about ever stepping outside again.”
Rosie’s legs went weak, and she and Kevin both crumpled to the floor together.
After watching the whole farce unfold, Zina finally shook her head and walked over.
“Now that you know who I am, don’t you think it’s time we settled our old scores?” she said, her voice calm but icy.
“It’s all just a misunderstanding,” Kevin stammered, his face ashen.
Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead as he watched with trepidation, his heart pounding in his chest.
“Is that so? All those things from before were just misunderstandings?” Zina knew all too well what kind of person Kevin was. Seeing his lips trembling nonstop, she could only find it laughable.
“Miss Lambert, please, you’re a generous person. Don’t hold this against me. If you don’t want to see us, I’ll take her away right now. We’ll be out of your sight for good,” Kevin pleaded.
He wiped the sweat from his forehead. “Will that be alright?” he asked, his voice shaking.
Zina turned to glance at Richard, who stood by her side.
Honestly, making such a scene at an event like this was more than a little embarrassing.
But Richard didn’t look like he blamed her at all. Instead, he gazed at Zina with a gentle, almost tender expression.
Seeing that, Zina couldn’t quite figure out what was going through Richard’s mind.
Zina turned her gaze back to Kevin, her lips curling into a cold smile. “Get out. Right now,” she said, her voice icy.
She added, “And don’t think for a second that I’m letting you off for everything you did before. After tonight, I’ll come find you myself–and make sure you pay for all of it.”
Zina’s words were like a death knell. Kevin tried to squeeze forward, desperate to say something.
But in the next second, Richard pushed him out of the way without hesitation.
Richard’s sharp gaze bore straight into Kevin, his eyes cold and unyielding.
“Didn’t you hear what my daughter said? She’s letting you save dignity by telling you to leave. If I have to get involved, things won’t be nearly this simple,” Richard said, his voice low and threatening.
Kevin gulped nervously, then half–dragged, half–hauled Rosie out of there in a total panic.

‘Sensitive identity?‘ Tobias glanced at Kaia.
:
Kaia’s expression was indifferent as usual, without any explanation.

“What identity can she have? Isn’t she just good at the SAT? Compared to our family, it’s not worth mentioning at all!” Judith looked down on Kaia from head to toe.
Keaton stood up abruptly. “Listen, if the person Griffin kidnapped was just an ordinary person—or if he had killed ordinary people–would that make it forgivable? Are those victims just deserving of it?”
Keaton forcefully tapped the ground with his cane, showing how furious he was.
“I-“Judith choked for a moment, because that was indeed what she thought.
Jameson knew his wife’s nature and was afraid she would say something she shouldn’t, so he quickly interjected.
“Dad, don’t be angry. How could Judith possibly think that way? She’s just overly worried about her son. After all, Griffin is like a part of her own flesh and blood.”
“As for Griffin, he was indeed wrong in this matter, and he brought it upon himself to have this result, but after all, the matter didn’t get out of hand. Dad, do you think there’s any room for compromise? Is it too harsh to forbid him from returning for life? Even if it’s reduced, ten or twenty years would be fine.”
“What?” Judith widened her eyes with disbelief. “Jameson, Griffin is your own son. You’re actually letting him return to our side in ten or twenty years? And why are you admitting fault for Griffin? I’m Griffin’s biological mother, and I know him very well. This is definitely not his fault.”
“It must be Kaia’s!”
Judith glared at Kaia angrily, “It must be you, you little seductress, who lured my son! It was you at the banquet before, and it was you at the restaurant yesterday. Don’t even try to deny it—I’ve already asked my son’s friends, and they all confirmed that it was you who barged into his private room.”
Kaia said indifferently with a blank expression, “I said, I just went to the wrong room. But your son wouldn’t
let me leave.”
“Bullshit! Don’t act like you’re so innocent! How can there be so many coincidences? You’re clearly afraid of being kicked away by Tobias once he’s tired of you, so you want my son to be your backup. As a result, Tobias found out, so you framed my son and said he was trying to do something inappropriate to you!”
“And as for what happened earlier today, I think my son only did it out of anger. That’s why he kidnapped your brother–he wanted you to apologize to him, to admit in front of his grandfather that it was all your fault!”

Even as she was being dragged away, Rosie was still completely out of it, not even realizing what was happening.
Now that those eyesores were finally out of the way, Richard strode over to Zina.
“If I remember right, it wasn’t just those two who were bullying you earlier. I had no idea that on Lambert family turf, anyone would dare lay a finger on my daughter,” Richard said, his voice low and dangerous.
His tone grew even sharper, and the fierce aura he gave off was enough to make everyone in the room go
silent.
The whole place was filled with fear. Some had been watching for the drama, others were just plain terrified. Almost everyone lowered their heads, not daring to meet his eyes.
