Zina shook her head, still staring in the direction where Kellan had just left. Suddenly, her heart began pounding uncontrollably.
She hoped that Kellan and Richard could at least get along, and that nothing would go wrong between them.
With a soft sigh, Zina composed herself and turned to the person beside her. “He probably has something to do. If you don’t have anywhere else to be, why not hang out with me for a bit?” she suggested.
“Sure,” Hayden agreed with a nod. Seeing there was nowhere else for him to go, Hayden had no choice but to follow Zina.
They had barely walked a few meters when Zina suddenly stopped. Hayden, who was right behind her, couldn’t stop in time and bumped into her back. Rubbing his sore nose, Hayden asked, “What’s wrong?”
As Hayden craned his neck, he finally noticed the woman standing in front of Zina. She was well–dressed, but there was an undeniable tension between them. It was clear their relationship wasn’t friendly.
Hayden knew he had to steer clear–he definitely didn’t want to get himself into trouble.
Before he could move, Lydia suddenly appeared. “And who is this? I don’t remember seeing you before,” Lydia said, her eyes lighting up, though her fingers were clenched tightly.
‘Why does Zina always get to have all the best connections?‘ Lydia thought bitterly. ‘I’m a Lambert too. What if people start talking about the Lambert family and only remember Zina? No way. I can’t let something like that happen.’
“Zina, aren’t you going to introduce me?” Lydia said sweetly, forcing a seductive smile and doing her best to look as alluring as possible.
Hayden immediately backed away, not wanting to get entangled in this.
Lydia froze at Hayden’s dismissive gesture, but she quickly recovered, feigning disappointment.
“Zina, don’t you want me to make more friends?” Lydia said, her voice dripping with fake innocence.
“I know you don’t like me touching your things or hanging around you. But you’re part of the Lambert family now. Even though Mom and Dad haven’t forced you to change how you address them or your last name, you can’t just keep doing things the Sinclair way,” Lydia added,
Lydia’s eyes were rimmed with red, putting on such a heartfelt act that Zina couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
“Sometimes I really don’t get it. Why is everyone around me always such a drama queen? You should seriously join the entertainment industry and show them what real acting looks like,” Zina said with a shrug.
Zina looked at Lydia with a clear chill in her eyes. “Well, and by the way, I’m a Lambert now. Stop associating me with the Sinclair family. It disgusts me.”
Lydia’s face froze, filled with disbelief. “Why did you change your mind all of a sudden?” she asked, voice shaking.
