Chapter 138
Andrea gnashed her teeth.
Kaia, who was very close to her, heard it clearly.
She said, “Gnashing your teeth won’t help. You and I both know how the Bennett family operates–if you’re useful to them, you’re a treasure; if you’re not, you’re nothing but a weed.
“Just look at me: when they decided I was useless, they kicked me out of the Bennett family without a second thought. And I, at least, have Bennett blood running through my veins. Even so, that’s how they treated me.
“But you, Andrea, are nothing. Once you lose your value, I don’t need to spell out what will happen to you, do
I?”
Andrea’s expression kept changing. Although Kaia was her enemy, she had to admit that Kaia was telling the truth.
“So, you’re going to slap yourself in the face. Now!” Kaia stood up and looked at Andrea with her arms crossed.
Andrea took a deep breath when she saw that Lincoln and Ruth didn’t say a word.
They had all defaulted, and she had no room to struggle.
She raised her hand and slapped herself in the face.
“Too light. I can’t even hear the sound. Is that what you call a slap?” Kaia smiled playfully.
Andrea glared at Kaia, then suddenly raised her hand and slapped herself hard.
“Are you happy now?” Andrea spat through gritted teeth.
Kaia nodded slightly. “Not bad.”
After speaking, Kaia looked at Phoebe. “I’m going in to treat Melvin. You two stay here and watch Andrea. Each slap must be as hard as the last one.”
“Okay, I’ll watch her for you.” Phoebe rubbed her fists together and came to Andrea.
At Melvin’s birthday party, Andrea deliberately gave Kaia’s SAT admission ticket number to Phoebe, using Phoebe as a tool to harm Kaia. As a result, Kaia became the city’s SAT top scorer, and the two ended up tearing into each other over the incident.
It was also because of this that Kaia asked Phoebe to watch Andrea. With her there, Andrea would have no chance to slack off on herself.
Andrea cursed in her heart, ‘Kaia, you’re ruthless!‘
Emma’s aged face was clouded with displeasure as she looked at Kaia. “Can you go and treat Melvin now?”

Finally, her words calmed Kevin down. His arm dropped limply to his side, as if he had no strength left.
Kevin stared at Rosie for a few moments, then spoke in a cold tone, “Don’t make me angry. Remember your goal. If you fail again, you know how I am.”
His face was utterly cold, devoid of any trace of the warmth he once showed her.
Rosie, free from the suffocating pressure, burst into tears but didn’t dare break down completely–she just kept nodding repeatedly.
Kevin didn’t say another word. He picked up his phone from the floor and hurried upstairs, without sparing her another glance.
The living room fell silent, the quiet so oppressive it almost felt eerie.
After what seemed like forever, Avery, who had been watching from upstairs, wiped her tears away and came down, her face filled with heartache.
“Rosie, are you okay?” she asked softly. Avery stopped in front of Rosie, reaching out as if to comfort her, but her hand jerked back as if she had second thoughts.
At that moment, Rosie suddenly looked up, her eyes completely emotionless. She clenched her teeth, fixing Avery with a predatory stare.
“Why did you bring me back to the Sinclair family? I was doing just fine before. Why did you force me to come here? It’s so unfair. Go after Zina. She’s the one who should be here suffering, not me. I’m the one who belongs with the Lambert family.
“Weren’t you the one who cared about me the most? Didn’t you say you’d do anything for me? So w.., are you treating me like this now?” Rosie cried.
Avery’s eyes grew even redder with tears as she looked at Rosie, but all she could do was clutch her handkerchief, dabbing at her own eyes.
“I don’t know how things ended up like this. I just wanted you to be happy. I never wanted you to end up like this. I wish I could let you leave too, but there’s just no time left,” Avery said softly.
“What do you mean?” Rosie suddenly looked up, her eyes wide with fear, staring at Avery, the one who had always claimed everything was for her own good.
But now, Rosie actually felt afraid. The Sinclair family was downright terrifying–she’d rather go back to her old life than stay here another second.
“Please, just let me go, okay? I don’t want to be here anymore. I don’t want to be the Sinclair family’s daughter. I don’t want anything anymore–just let me leave. I want to go right now,” Rosie shouted, her voice cracking as she lost control.
Avery suddenly panicked, looking around to make sure no one had overheard. Once she was sure, she let out a sigh of relief.
Then she turned to Rosie, speaking cautiously. “Be careful. How could you be so careless? What if your dad
“Okay.” Kaia replied in a light tone, “I’m in a particularly good mood right now. Let’s go.”
Because of these words, Emma, Lincoln, and Ruth all had their blood pressure spike instantly.
Soon, Kaia arrived in Melvin’s room.
First, she checked his condition by seeing his eyes.
“How is it? Can you treat him?” Emma asked anxiously.

Kaia said, “His condition has been dragging on for a long time. If you had agreed to let me treat him a few years ago, at that time it was still very easy to cure. Now, it requires gradual recuperation.”
Emma was once again infuriated. “Oh really? All the other doctors have said that the old man simply can’t be cured, but from the way you speak, it sounds like as long as he is nursed back to health slowly, he’ll recover?
“Kaia, are you aware that those doctors are all renowned experts and professors? They couldn’t cure him–are you sure you can?”
Kaia could tell that Emma still doubted her medical skills and was deliberately saying such things to mock her.
“Don’t worry, your Bennett family spent 100 million dollars to hire me, after all. I won’t let your money be spent in vain. After all, that’s 100 million dollars, not a small number. Mrs. Bennett, wouldn’t you agree?”
She deliberately said “100 million dollars” repeatedly, using tit–for–tat to anger Emma.
Emma’s face darkened, and she was secretly thinking about how to get the 100 million dollars back from Kaia.
Kaia took out the silver needle, her movements skilled and steady, not at all like a twenty–year–old.
The more Emma and the others looked, the weirder their expressions became.
Half an hour later, Kaia withdrew the needle, and Melvin woke up.
The others were stunned.
As soon as Melvin woke up, he saw Kaia standing beside him.
Melvin said, “Why is she here? Lincoln, didn’t you and your wife promise me that you would never let this jinx into my family again?
“You actually went back on your word! I’m telling you, if you don’t kick her out today, you’re not my son, not one of the Bennett family members.”
After Melvin finished roaring, he noticed that everyone’s expressions were very strange.
He asked, “Why aren’t you talking? Are you all ignoring me?”
Emma was afraid that things would get out of her control, so she leaned over to Melvin’s ear and told him everything that had just happened.
heard what you just said? If he gets angry, it wouldn’t end like this,” she warned.
Rosie’s face went ashen in an instant–she didn’t even dare open her mouth.
After a few seconds, Rosie finally spoke up in a timid voice. “Mom, can you please take me away from here?” she pleaded softly.
“I feel for you too, but now just isn’t the time. Be good, okay? Your dad isn’t always like this,” Avery said, wiping her tears as she tried to comfort Rosie. She didn’t notice how Rosie’s expression had turned cold.
At that very moment, Zina was observing everything unfold at the Sinclair family’s villa.
Sitting in front of her computer, Zina watched the surveillance footage that had just come in, her frown easing as she finished viewing it.
After saving the footage to a USB drive, Zina turned to the person behind her. “So? Pretty much what I expected, right?” she asked.
Kellan gave her a fond look. Though he didn’t say anything, the affection in his eyes was unmistakable.
“Alright, now that we have these videos, it wasn’t all for nothing. We’ve got a good sense of what the Sinclair family is up to. Now, it’s our turn to act,” Kellan said.
“Starting with Rosie is probably our best move,” Zina said.
She looked up at Kellan, took a deep breath, and continued, “The Sinclair family is going to court. This time, I’ll make sure they go down for good.”
After hearing this, Melvin’s eyes widened instantly, and he turned his head sharply to look at Kaia, his wrinkled eyes full of disbelief.
After a long while, Melvin slowly opened his mouth.
“Fine, since you’ve made something of yourself now, I’ll make an exception and allow you to return to the Bennett family.
“However, after you come back, any money you carn from making house calls to treat others must be handed over to us. And the 100 million dollars I gave you before must also be repaid to the Bennett family.”
Kaia just looked at Melvin expressionlessly, without saying a word.
“What do you mean by that expression?” Melvin said with displeasure.
Kaia took a few steps back, keeping her distance from the Bennett family.
“I’m truly grateful now that I was switched at birth in the hospital twenty years ago. Every single one of you in the Bennett family is the absolute epitome of shamelessness.
“You don’t even know what ‘shame‘ means. If I had grown up in that environment, I’d probably be just as shameless as you all.”
“Bastard!” Melvin was furious, “This is outrageous! How dare you talk to your elders like that!”
“Elders? Melvin, is your memory really that bad? Have you forgotten that my I have already been removed from your family?
“And you even made a statement on Twitter saying that from now on, no matter what, I have nothing to do with the Bennett family anymore. Have you forgotten all that too?”
“I know you’re blaming us for kicking you out. But we didn’t do anything wrong back then; if you want to blame someone, blame yourself for constantly making a fool of yourself in public.
“Today, we’re only letting you come back out of kindness because of your considerable medical skills,” Melvin said righteously.
Kaia sneered, “To say you are shameless is really an understatement.”
“How dare you say that again!” Melvin looked at Kaia furiously, trembling with anger.
“Am I wrong? You’ve already made a statement on Twitter. Everyone in Morganburg knows that I no longer have any relationship with the Bennett family.
“Are you going to slap yourselves in the face and issue another statement to tell everyone that you know you were wrong, so you’re asking me to come back? Can you drop your face like that?”
Melvin carefully pondered Kaia’s words. If they really did that, they would indeed be slapping themselves in the face.
After thinking for a while, Melvin quickly came up with a good idea.
He said, “In this way, you can post on Twitter and say that you have turned over a new leaf and will never embarrass our Bennett family again. Beg our Bennett family for forgiveness.”
In this way, it gave them a way to gracefully back down.
