(Elena’s POV)
I looked at Hugo, searching my mind for past memories, but always without result. “When
have we met?”
His words stirred a sense of confusion within me. I tried to recall every encounter, every face
from my past, but nothing came to mind.
Hugo tapped my forehead lightly with his finger. “You saw Marcus, then you saw me. Think about it carefully yourself.”
He turned and walked away, leaving me standing there in the corridor. I watched his
retreating figure, lost in thought.
What did his words mean? I had met Marcus Blackwood, and also met him? But why didn’t I
remember?
The more I thought about it, the more frustrated I became. There was something important I
was missing, some memory that refused to surface.
(Celeste’s POV)
Meanwhile, at the Crimson Rose Tavern, I sat by the window, growing impatient as my
arranged mate prospect arrived unhurriedly. The French restaurant buzzed with quiet
conversation around us.
I looked up at the man with his hair neatly combed back. His features were decent and
handsome, especially the deep contours around his eyes that gave a sense of dark
sharpness.
Anyway, not my type.
I lost my patience and said, “Mr. Chavez, right? If you didn’t want to come, you didn’t have to.”
My voice carried an edge of irritation. “Anyway, this mating alliance was arranged by our packs. It’s fine if it falls through.”
Felix Xavier calmly sat down, lifting his eyelids to look at me. “Making Miss Harrison wait so
long was my oversight.”

I frowned at the gesture. “Mr. Chavez, what do you mean…”

Felix Xavier leaned back in his chair. “My surname is Xavier, with ‘Felix‘ as my given name. The other name is just what I use in other territories.”
I picked up the juice on the table and took a sip. “Alright, Mr. Xavier. I think you were also forced into this mating alliance, right? Never mind the gift.”
“It can’t be counted as being forced,” he replied coolly. “It’s all the same who I mate with.”
Hearing these words, I was even more speechless. Of course, Alphas would think it’s all the same who they mate with.
It seemed he wasn’t planning to refuse this alliance. I crossed my arms, not wanting to be
outdone.
“I have someone I like. I don’t like you. You should think clearly.”
My voice grew firmer. “If we really become mates, we’ll only be bonded in name.”
A cold smile touched Felix’s lips. “That’s exactly what I want.”
“So be it.” I finished my juice and left those words behind.
I picked up my bag and stood up to leave. Felix stroked his watch, the smile on his face
gradually fading.
As I walked to the elevator, a woman brushed past me. Her face seemed familiar, and
suddenly I thought of who it was.
I turned back to look at her retreating figure. It was that woman who pushed Elena’s foster
brother into the water!
What was her name again? Sophia something?
Seeing her enter the restaurant, I followed immediately. I ducked out of sight as I reached the
entrance.
Looking through the glass, I saw Sophia Rivers heading towards Felix’s table. These two were
in cahoots!
No, my arranged mate prospect was actually connected to a woman like this? How unlucky!

Inside the restaurant, Felix glanced at Sophia standing before him, his expression displeased.
“What are you doing here?”
Sophia wrung her trembling hands, biting her lip. “You said you’d help me deal with Elena.”
Her voice was barely above a whisper, filled with desperate hope.
He fastened his suit button with deliberate slowness. “There’s no need to rush.”
“Then when will it be?” Sophia’s patience was wearing thin.
“Gotten the money, and become so tough?” His sharp gaze made her shoulders tremble.
Sophia hid the unhappiness in her heart. “No… I’m just too anxious.”
Felix stood up, his movement fluid and predatory. “Don’t come to see me during this time.
When I need you, I’ll have someone contact you.”
He passed Sophia, leaving directly without another glance. Sophia stood rooted to the spot,
her hands clenched tightly at her sides.
The humiliation burned in her chest like acid.
(Elena’s POV)
Celeste returned to the hospital, heading straight for my healing chamber. Knowing she had gone to meet her arranged mate prospect, and seeing her looking unwell, I asked, “What’s wrong? Not satisfied with him?”
“Satisfied? The sky has fallen!” Celeste sat down opposite me, her face flushed with anger.
“Guess who I saw?” Her eyes were wide with disbelief.
I shook my head, concerned by her agitation.
“That Sophia something, Sophia Rivers! She actually knows Felix Xavier!”
Celeste’s voice rose with each word. “Can you believe I’m stuck with the two of them?”
I was stunned by this revelation. “Felix Xavier knows her?”
