That scheming woman must have known this day would come. Coral raked her nails across a photo of Anneliese’s face as if venting her fury.
Just then, the door banged open. Zacharias walked in, cold as ice, with two black–clad bodyguards behind him. Coral went pale and turned toward the window, thinking of escape, but they were on the sixth floor.
Dropping to her knees, she clutched his leg and begged, “Zacharias, please let the baby live. I love you. I just want to keep our child. I swear, once the baby is born, I’ll leave and raise him far away. I’ll never disturb your life again…”
However, his face stayed hard as stone. He grabbed her chin. “Coral, I warned you not to play tricks with me. I told you to take the pills. Why didn’t you listen? You’ve been very bad.”
He shoved her away and motioned to the bodyguards. Coral’s cries echoed as they dragged her back to the hospital, where the operating room was already prepared.
This time, Zacharias intended to watch her get on that table himself.
Anneliese’s insistence on divorce had only grown stronger. Zacharias had been unable to sleep, haunted by dreams of her asking to leave him. He felt time slipping away–if he didn’t act now, he would lose her for good.
He planned to show Anneliese the abortion paperwork the following night, then apologize alongside the Whites.
She must be lying when she says she doesn’t love me anymore. I can still make it right. I can win her back, he thought.
But just as Coral was about to be wheeled into surgery, a hoarse voice cut down the hall. “Stop this surgery! I object!”

The veins at Zacharias‘ temple bulged. “Mom, move! Anne can have children. She’s cured. We’ll have a baby soon. Don’t meddle in this!”
“Coral is carrying my grandchild–how is this not my business?! This surgery won’t happen; not over my dead body!”
Her fierce protection made Zacharias frown deeply, but his decision was made. He signaled to the guards. They moved forward–until the next second when Lenora screamed, “Mom! What’s wrong?!”
Melody’s eyes rolled back, and she collapsed. Chaos erupted. Zacharias had no choice but to halt the procedure and carry his mother to a hospital room.
Looking at her pale face as she lay in bed, still trying to shield Coral, he suddenly felt drained and powerless.
The following night, Jessica sent a pre–recorded audio clip to Anneliese’s phone. “Came out pretty good. When the time comes, use it to scare the hell out of them. Ha, I can’t wait to see their faces.”
Anneliese pressed play, listened briefly, and curved her lips in a smile. She handed Jessica a pearl necklace, which Jessica helped fasten around her neck. “I’ll sneak in and stick close to you. Don’t worry, darling, go all out.”
That night was the White family’s banquet–Selina would definitely make a move. For Anneliese, it was a dangerous dinner, a trap waiting for her to walk in alone. Jessica wasn’t about to let her go unprotected. She would blend into the crowd and guard her from the shadows.
Anneliese turned and smiled. “With you there, I’m not afraid of anything.”
Jessica pinched her cheek. “Honestly, you could just ask Mr. Fullbuster to go with you. If he showed up by your side, that would be the best revenge of all. The Whites‘ eyes would pop out of their heads, and they wouldn’t dare stir up trouble again.”
She had already suggested it once before, but Anneliese had refused, saying she had her own plan. She didn’t want to drag Jonathan into her business.
