Jessica’s face was flushed with excitement.
Meanwhile, Anneliese merely stared at her, dumbfounded. Jessica made it sound as though she could claim Jonathan as if he were hers so effortlessly.
It seemed like Jessica was the one running a fever and acting delusional, not her.
“We’re just friends, and Jonathan’s a good person. He’s helped me a lot, so how could I use him. like that?”
Besides, she was getting divorced tomorrow.
They had already caused a huge scene tonight. Though she couldn’t do much about Selina, at least she’d let off some steam.
Now, Selina understood what it felt like to be judged, gossiped about, and looked down upon.

Anneliese was taken aback by the question.
She was about to refuse, but Jessica simply ignored her and darted to the door.
As soon as the door swung open, Anneliese made eye contact with the familiar man outside.
Her heart skipped a beat.
“Look who’s here! It’s Mr. Fullbuster, the hero who saved our dearest Annie! Come in!”
Jessica stepped aside with an overly enthusiastic smile, then turned to Anneliese and winked cheekily.
Though Anneliese hadn’t agreed to Jessica’s absurd bet, those words still echoed in her mind. She never realized just how persuasive Jessica could be.
Anneliese felt inexplicably flustered, and her racing heartbeat wouldn’t calm down.
The man’s deep, alluring voice could be heard. “Are you running a fever?”
At the same time, his large hand rested gently on her forehead.
Anneliese looked up to find Jonathan’s intense gaze on her, his brows slightly furrowed.
He had just showered and changed into a suit, leaving the top two buttons of his shirt undone
with no tie.
The skin on his neck was still slightly pink from the steaming shower, and the small mole on his Adam’s apple stood out against his fair skin.
His dark hair, blown fluffy and tousled, framed his face naturally.
Anneliese’s eyelashes fluttered, and her cheeks began warming up. “Yeah, it’s just a slight fever,” she admitted.
Speaking made her voice hoarse in an unfamiliar way.

She had meant to ask why he was here, especially since Selina was supposed to be the one meeting him.
However, thinking of how Selina had pursued him for years and how he’d accepted her invitation to the White family’s banquet, Anneliese decided it wasn’t appropriate to ask.
Perhaps the two of them were close, and maybe he even liked Selina.
“Pardon?” Jonathan seemed to be texting someone.
Hearing her pause, he looked up from his phone and studied her.
“It’s nothing,” Anneliese replied, shaking her head with a smile.
Jonathan watched her carefully, noticing her evasive eyes.
He grinned slightly. He thought of their underwater kiss and how she had wrapped her legs tightly around him in the bathroom, assuming she was being shy about it.
