She reached to lift the covers, but Jessica froze when she saw Jonathan bending down to support Anneliese.
“I’ll go start the car,” Jessica answered before running off.
As Anneliese held onto Jonathan, she tried to insist she could stand, but her legs wavered weakly.
The next second, she felt herself being lifted effortlessly and placed back on the bed.
“We’ll leave after you’ve taken your medicine,” Jonathan muttered in a low voice.
He sat beside her bed, his presence ever–so–intimidating.
Anneliese instinctively drew her legs closer, slightly stunned as she gaped at him.
“Are you coming with me?” she asked.
Jonathan raised an eyebrow, finding her question strange. “Why wouldn’t I?”
He had come precisely because of her–and it was just as well he did.
As he recalled her sinking into the icy water lifelessly, a storm brewed in his eyes.
Anneliese let out a small smile. “Alright.”
Selina wasn’t worth her time.
Perhaps her relationship with Jonathan was nothing more than casual.
At that moment, Zion knocked and entered, carrying a glass of water with some fever medicine.
Jonathan took it and handed the pill to Anneliese.
She thanked him and placed the medicine in her mouth.

While holding the cup in his hand, she drank the water along with the medicine.

“Do you feel unwell, Anne? Let me take care of you.
“I invited Mr. Fullbuster to the banquet tonight, and he shouldn’t trouble himself with this.”
She tried scooting closer to the bed, but Zion immediately blocked her way.
“Ms. Claude has fallen sick and needs some fresh air. Please don’t crowd around her bedside,

He noticed a tiny drop of water glistening at the corner of Anneliese’s lips.
Without a second thought, he reached out and wiped it away with his thumb.

“You two know each other?”
She could not be convinced otherwise.

He was the one who celebrated Anneliese’s birthday and accompanied her to the auction.
