“We’re lucky to have Selina, who’s always so generous, kind–hearted, and never one to hold grudges. Kids these days, eh? Forgive us, Mr. Fullbuster.”
Timothy mistakenly believed Selina had been the one to invite Jonathan.
He spoke with the air of an elder, glancing between the pair in approval.
Standing behind Jonathan, Zion only felt secondhand embarrassment for him.
Fearing the truth might be exposed, Selina hurried to her father’s side and took his arm.

She froze in surprise, and before she realized it, she had been drawn a step forward, now standing shoulder to shoulder with him.

Perseus stepped forward, pulling Selina to his side furiously.
“You’re still a married woman, Anne. What’s with your behavior?”
Christopher went even further, reaching out to drag Anneliese away.
But before his hand could touch her, Jonathan’s other hand seized his wrist in a crushing grip.
The man didn’t hold back, and Christopher let out a muffled groan, his face paling.
When Jonathan flung his hand aside, he staggered back two steps humiliatingly.
Christopher was filled with fury, but before he could lash out, Jonathan’s cold, piercing gaze stopped him in his tracks.
With a tug, Jonathan then drew Anneliese into his arms.

His hand shifted from her wrist to her slender waist, holding her firmly as his voice rang out sharply.
“Why on earth would I accept Ms. White’s invitation? That’s absurd.”
