Chapter 192 Leaving Once and for All
Anneliese blinked, her expression caught somewhere between dazed and innocent.
She and Selina had been rivals for years, locked in constant battle.

Whenever Selina slapped her, she would do anything just to return the slap, even if she hurt herself.
However, today was different.
She had managed to make Selina cry and run off without lifting a finger.
Anneliese had to admit that winning effortlessly felt pretty sweet.
“Selina!” Melanie called after her anxiously, and she hurried off as well.
Timothy and his sons were rigid, their hearts filled with anger and distress.
However, Jonathan paid them no mind.
With his arm around Anneliese, he started walking out. Feverish and weak, she simply followed his lead until someone called out angrily.
“Stop right there!” Perseus stormed over.
Jonathan turned slightly, supporting Anneliese as he glanced back.
His gaze wasn’t overtly sharp, but the weight of it bore down on Perseus until he froze in place.
Perseus clenched his jaw, unable to meet Jonathan’s eyes, and instead glared at Anneliese. He said coldly, “Anneliese, it’s Mom’s birthday today. I don’t care if you want to cause a scene, but where is your gift? Is this how you behave?”
Christopher stepped forward as well, recalling how Anneliese was prepared to give her mother a villa. “You’re giving Mom a villa, right? Hasn’t the deed already been transferred into her name? Stop playing games. Hand it over, apologize, and maybe we’ll forgive you for the chaos you caused tonight.”
Perseus, thinking of the villa, grew even more certain and forceful.
In his eyes, Anneliese’s outburst and her fight with Selina over a man were just ploys to draw
attention to herself and outshine her sister.

After all the trouble she had caused, it was time to get down to business.
It would be a hassle if she continued dragging things on.
Though Jonathan held her close, he had always matched his movements to hers.
When Anneliese halted, so did he. “I can handle it,” she murmured.

Meeting his concerned gaze, she gently nudged him back and stepped out of his arms. She slowly turned around as the White family watched.
Seeing this, both Timothy and Melanie let out a sigh of relief.
The man walked over and helped his wife to the couch, waiting for Anneliese to apologize and present her gift.
Anneliese had grown up in an orphanage before a middle–aged couple adopted her. Both died shortly after, leaving behind only a frail, old woman for Anneliese to care for.
Why would Anneliese pass up the chance to join a wealthy family like theirs?
The more she clashed with Selina, the more it proved she cared.
Even tonight’s loud, messy outburst was to grab their attention, making them guilty enough to pacify her, but she had gone too far this time.
If not for Jonathan’s presence, they wouldn’t have given her the chance to apologize at all.
Of course, that was what everyone in the White family believed.
Anneliese instantly saw through the disdain and arrogance hidden in their eyes. She smiled mockingly as she chuckled. “Well, I don’t have a birthday gift. There’s no such thing as a villa transfer either.”
She observed Christopher’s furrowed brows and startled expression.
“It’s hilarious how naive you are. With intelligence and sharpness like that, you call yourself a lawyer?” she remarked.
“What do you mean there’s no villa? You have the deed!” He snapped in anger.
Anneliese couldn’t even be bothered to respond. Ever since she returned to the family, not a single one of them had ever given her a birthday gift.
Only the late Gloria had ever done so.

In contrast, she took the effort to get everyone a birthday gift each year, but now, they weren’t worth a penny of her money or a shred of her effort.
She glanced at them disdainfully before turning away.
“If you leave tonight, don’t ever come back, Anneliese!” Perseus shouted furiously.
Instead of shouting back, she merely muttered coldly, “Gladly.”
After tonight, she would never return.
Glass could be heard shattering behind her as Timothy hurled a wineglass angrily.
“Anne!”
Meanwhile, panic welled up inside Melanie as she watched Anneliese leave without looking back. She shot to her feet, calling out instinctively.
But Anneliese didn’t seem to hear the woman, and her figure slowly disappeared through the front door.
