Chapter 33
“What the hell are you talking about, Ethan?” Olivia asked with a raised voice, staring at Ethan on his knees,
“If this is some sort of a joke to you, I would…”
“Believe me, I would never use my daughter’s life to joke, Olivia. You see the last person to think I would ever use a child’s life to joke around.”
Olivia fluttered her brows. In his eyes, she could see so much fear which meant Ethan wasn’t lying,
“What’s going on babe?” Bryan’s voice made Olivia turn around to face him. “Who are you talking to?” He questioned, but the expression on his face turned into a deep frown upon seeing Ethan on his knees,
“What’s happening?”
“I need to leave, Bryan.” Olivia uttered,
“What? Tell me why? Tell me what’s wrong babe?” Bryan retorted with a worried look, trying so hard not to let his rage take the better part of him,
“I’ll explain to you when I return”
“I’m coming with you. I’ll get the car keys.”
He turned to leave but Olivia stopped him, “Who’s goin to watch over Noah? When he wakes up, I’m the first person he’s going to look for so you have to sleep with him tonight, Bryan. I just need to check on a patient and I’ll be back once I confirm if she’s okay.”
With a deep breath, Bryan nodded his head and moved closer to Olivia. He gently wrapped his arms around her waist in front of Ethan, and kissed her lips,
“I’ll be waiting for you, be careful.” He murmured, and Olivia kissed him back.
She cocked her gaze towards Ethan,
“I brought my car so I’ll be driving,” Ethan uttered. When Olivia stepped out of the house, she wrapped one of her arms around his shoulder and they began to walk toward his car,
“I’ll get her into the car myself,” Bryan uttered as he held Olivia’s hand and nodded his head, Ethan instantly let go of her hand,
He opened the car doors, tucking her crutches inside the car first before Olivia stepped in,
“I’ll see you soon, love,” Bryan murmured and Olivia nodded before Ethan ignited the car. As soon as the car drove off, Olivia let out a deep breath,
It was already annoying that something kept bringing them both together in one place all the time, “The hospital is yet to open fully, where are we going to take her?” Olivia questioned, finally breaking the silence between them, and through the front mirror, Ethan stared at her,
His mind had earlier been filled with the way Bryan had kissed Olivia earlier and it made him realize that he never gave her any of that so many years ago,
“I have everything ready. Eva doesn’t like being around people but I really hope she gets comfortable with you and opens her heart to you. I had no one else to ask for this favor except you, Olivia. Right now, you’re the one person I can trust with

my daughter’s life.” Ethan uttered, and silently, Olivia let out a scoff as she murmured under her breath,
“Noah’s your son too and he’s ill. He’s been ill for so many years without his dad by his side.”
She had been staring at Ethan, but darted her gaze away when it seemed her emotion was starting to get in the way,
“Where’s she?”
“At the hospital,” Ethan responded and halted the car about 20 min later. He stepped out of the car and rushed over to the back door to open the door for Olivia,
“You don’t have to carry me, I can walk on my own,” Olivia murmured as she grabbed her crutches and stepped out of the car,
Taking a few steps away from her, Ethan nodded his head as he watched her step out of the car and they began heading towards the hospital,
Using the elevator, Olivia found herself on the 7th floor,
“Follow me, it’s this way.” He uttered and they both continued walking until Ethan halted in front of an entrance where two hefty men in black suits were standing,
“She’s just a child, I don’t think there’s a need for her to be surrounded by this much security,” Olivia murmured as they both stepped into the room but Ethan didn’t utter a word in response,
“Daddy.” The little girl called in a soft, angelic voice, and as much as Olivia wanted to pass part of the blame on Eva for everything that had happened to her in the past, she just couldn’t.
Her eyes were so small and beautiful but there was no doubt she looked so much like Shirley, and she had certainly taken none of Ethan’s features,
When Eva averted her gaze to Olivia, she remained quiet and all Olivia could see was fear as she held onto Ethan’s arm tightly,
“I’m here, baby, Daddy’s here, and I brought you a doctor; she’s going to make you feel better and happier,” Ethan murmured to his daughter, but Olivia was so quick to realize that there was no reaction from the little girl,
She simply just kept staring at Eva for as long as she could without any of them uttering a word,
For so many years she had taken care of numerous patients including children but there was something about Eva, and it was something that Olivia just couldn’t wrap her arms around the more she stared at the little beautiful angel,
One thing was certain, Eva was so frightened and Olivia could see that much in her eyes. No wonder she hated being around people and no wonder she was quiet. She was the complete opposite of Noah,
Letting out a deep breath without taking her gaze away from Eva, Olivia’s lips curled up into a warm and welcoming smile, and with her crutches, she began approaching Eva,
“Hi cupcake, it’s so nice to see you. You’re extremely beautiful and I have something for you. Wanna see it?”
This probably could be the first step in winning Eva’s heart because she was certain Eva lacked one thing and it was confidence.
