Chapter 24
“I understand.”
:
Channing replied to Martha with a dismissive tone, clearly not taking her words to heart.

He glanced at his watch and ended the conversation, saying, “Well, it’s getting late now. I will deal with the Westin family. Let me take you downstairs.”
“I’ve only been here for a short while, and you’re already chasing me away!” Martha said unhappily. “Where’s Savannah? Is she downstairs? I heard she got hurt in the chaos yesterday, but I don’t know her condition. If it is serious, she needs to recover properly. Otherwise, she will suffer a lot since she’s pregnant,” she added.
“Pregnant?”
Channing narrowed his eyes slightly.
Due to yesterday’s doubt, he had some strange feelings about the word “pregnant.”
Fortunately, Martha was in a hurry to care about Savannah’s health, so she didn’t seem to notice anything else.
Martha called out for Savannah several times after she went downstairs, but the latter didn’t show up as obediently as she used to. Instead, Gilbert rushed over.
“Mrs. Muir is out.”
“Where did she go?” This time, Channing spoke up and asked in a deep voice. “When did she leave?”
“She left early this morning when you were busy answering Ms. Guthrie’s call, comforting her not to cry, and saying you would handle the matter with the Westin family.”
Gilbert cleared his throat and said, “Mr. Muir, if you weren’t paying attention to what Mrs. Muir was saying, you can’t blame her.”
Channing was speechless.
Channing frowned and didn’t answer.
Martha became furious as she heard the words and glared at Channing.
She said inwardly, “Why did I give birth to this bastard?”
Meanwhile, in the women’s and children’s hospitals.
Savannah had arrived early at the clinic. She needed to pass the pre–surgical examination before she entered the operating room to proceed with the induced abortion.
There weren’t too many people in the waiting area at that moment.
It was a place related to children. Therefore, except for Savannah, there were hardly any single girls. Most of

them were accompanied by their husbands, boyfriends, or sisters.

So occasionally, people passing by would cast curious glances at Savannah and murmur phrases such as, “Beautiful girls have to protect themselves outside,” or “You don’t see men’s true colors until you get married,”
and so on.
However, Savannah couldn’t care less about them right now.
She put her hand on her lower abdomen. She felt her heart sink when she sat outside the consulting room.
Her body was so tense that if she relaxed even a bit, she wouldn’t be able to control herself from fleeing this place.
Just then, her name appeared on the name machine at the door.
Stiffly, Savannah approached the doctor and handed over her report.
The doctor examined the report briefly and nodded, saying, “Your indicators are suitable for the procedure. The fetus is at an early stage, so it won’t be too painful. However, it’s better to have your parents accompany you. After the induced abortion, you’ll be quite weak, and it will be difficult for you to go home alone.”
“It doesn’t matter. I can handle it,” Savannah replied.
Savannah didn’t want to tell her mother, Delia, about her pregnancy, so she took a deep breath and said, “Doctor, my father is in the hospital. No one can accompany me.”
“I see. As a young girl, you should take better care of yourself. Otherwise, your father will be very worried about you.” The doctor shook her head sympathetically. She regarded Savannah as an ignorant girl who had been fooled by scumbags.
Savannah clenched his fingers.
She didn’t feel sad for herself. When the doctor mentioned how her father would worry, it brought tears to her eyes.
Her father had indeed doted on her since she was a child. Even if she only scraped her hand and bled a little, he would be worried for a long time.
It would break his heart if he found out that she was going through this now.
Obviously, the doctor had noticed her hesitation and asked one last time, “Young lady, are you sure you want to proceed with the surgery?”
