Chapter 3 Proposing to Him
Chapter 3 Proposing to Him
“Dad, Mom, don’t do this to me! I don’t want to marry a cripple!”
Juliette pounded on the storage room door, her eyes brimming with tears.
But no one responded.

She slid weakly to the floor, her gaze suddenly shifting to the small window in the storage
room.
She only weighed around eighty pounds. If she tried hard enough, she could squeeze through!
Inside the Rolls–Royce, the man had sharp brows and deep–set eyes, his chiseled face resembling a masterpiece sculpted by a renowned artist. His entire presence exuded an air of noble arrogance.
“If Grandpa likes her, let him marry her himself. I have no interest.”
“Any leads on that woman from three years ago?”
“Useless! You’ve been searching for so long and still found nothing!”
His voice was devoid of emotion, icy cold.
Hanging up the call, Max rubbed his temples and looked out the window.
“Will you marry me? I don’t want anything–no dowry, no house, no car. It doesn’t matter.”
A delicate and beautiful woman was holding onto an average–looking man, proposing to him. “You’re crazy!” The man shoved Juliette away and quickly backed off.
Undeterred by the rejection, Juliette immediately approached other eligible men.
As long as she got married, her parents would have no control over her anymore.
Max Donovan’s lips curled slightly.
Isn’t Grandpa forcing me to get married? Fine, I’ll marry someone!
“Stop the car. You can leave.”
After dismissing the driver, Max walked toward Juliette.

Juliette didn’t even bother looking at his face. As long as he was a man, that was enough.
But when she lifted her eyes and saw such an incredibly handsome face, she froze for a moment before saying, “Sorry.”
With that, she turned to leave.
But Max grabbed her wrist.
“Didn’t you say you wanted to get married? I’m willing to marry you.”
Juliette stared at him in shock. “Can you say that again? My hearing isn’t great.”
“I said, I’m willing to marry you!” Max’s voice rose slightly.
Being an honest person, Juliette stated, “I have hearing issues, an old wrist injury, and most importantly, I was in prison for three years. Can you accept that?”
Max raised an eyebrow. “No problem. That works for me.”
They took a cab to City Hall. When they walked out, Juliette was holding a marriage certificate.
She felt like she was dreaming. She had actually gotten herself married.
But the man she married wasn’t the one she had loved for over twenty years.
Thinking back, every memory was enough to rip her heart apart.
“Cough… cough…” She suddenly started coughing, spitting out a few mouthfuls of blood.
“What’s wrong with you? You don’t have some weird illness, do you?”
As soon as Max finished speaking, Juliette collapsed.
She had just gotten out of prison and hadn’t had a moment to rest. Fear and exhaustion overwhelmed her, and her body could no longer hold on.
At the hospital.
After sending Juliette for a checkup, Max made a call, his expression dark.
Since they were legally married, he figured he should at least know her background.

He never expected that his investigation would reveal she was the very woman his grandpa had
chosen for him.
Disgust filled Max. If there was one thing he hated, it was being manipulated.
Juliette Monroe? She’s about to learn that provoking me is the biggest mistake of her life.
His face grim, Max strode toward the hospital room.
