Juliette hadn’t thought that much about it. She just knew that her parents had never been good.

Closing the car door, Juliette walked straight into the Monroe Residence.
Max hesitated for a moment, then quietly followed her inside.
When Juliette stepped in, Lucas and Sylvia were having breakfast.
“This stretch of time has been nothing but bad luck. The contract with Sphere Corporation was going smoothly, just one step away from sealing the deal. Why did that mysterious president suddenly cancel the collaboration?” Lucas had been troubled over it all night and had only fallen asleep at dawn. His face looked haggard and tired.
“Lucas, could it be that we offended Sphere Corporation’s president somehow?” Sylvia asked anxiously.
“Impossible! A big shot like that lived abroad for years and only moved the headquarters to Newton last year. I don’t even know if that person is a man or a woman, young or old. All business negotiations were handled through secretaries and assistants. Even if I wanted to offend them, I wouldn’t know where to start!”
“We’ll wait for Gavin to arrive before making any decisions. He has more connections. He’s the only one who can help me find out what’s going on.” Lucas sighed, his worry apparent.
“Hmph, if you ask me, some bringer of bad luck must’ve been released from prison and ruined the good luck of our home!”
“Let’s just hope Vivien and Gavin can get married smoothly. That might help turn our fortune
around.”
“Mr. Monroe, Mrs. Monroe, Ms. Monroe is here,” a maid announced as she stepped forward.
Hearing that their disgrace of a daughter had returned, Lucas‘ lips curled into a cold smile, as if he had expected this all along.

“What’s this? Regretting your choices? It was easy for you to run away, but coming back isn’t so simple! Go kneel outside until I say you can get up!” Lucas barked.
Sylvia is right. It has to be this wretched girl’s fault! Overnight, I lost a multimillion–dollar deal!
“Dad, I didn’t come back out of regret. I’m here to take back what rightfully belongs to me.” Juliette stood tall, her striking features carrying a layer of icy frost. Just her presence alone was enough to command attention.
“What kind of nonsense is that? What could you possibly have in this house? Three years ago, I already threw out everything in your old it’s Vivien’s dance studio now! Did marrying some broke b*stard suddenly make you desperate for money from your family? Let me tell you, there’s no such thing as a free meal! If you know what’s good for you, divorce that stray dog and marry the third son of the Donovan family. If you do that, I might be willing to give you a little dowry. Otherwise, don’t even dream of getting a single cent!”
Juliette had no interest in arguing with a shrew. Her clear, sharp gaze locked onto Lucas as she said. “Five years ago, before Grandpa passed, he wrote in his will that when I got married, 20 percent of Monroe Pharmaceutical’s shares would belong to me. Back then, I was still a daughter of the Monroe family, so I never pressed you for it. But now that I have my own family, it’s time for you to hand over what’s mine.”
“Oh my, how can you be so shameless? We fed and clothed you, and this is how you repay us?” Sylvia was so furious that she was on the verge of a stroke.
