Chapter 7
The “Hill Burial Case” quickly became a nationwide sensation.
Public outrage surged, and under immense pressure, the police swiftly located my foster parents.
After a long round of questioning, they finally spilled valuable information.
From there, one lead led to another, and the investigators soon tracked down the gang of thugs who had assaulted me.
The truth came to light, swift and undeniable.
The authorities issued an arrest warrant for Serena Bell.
And the full case report was finally presented to my parents and Clarence.
“Forensic analysis shows that Eulalie Bell suffered multiple rib fractures, a broken nasal bridge, and extensive trauma across her body,” the officer explained, voice cold and sharp.
“She was physically assaulted and sexually violated before her death.”
“In addition, she bore signs of older injuries–clear evidence of long–term abuse.”
“As her parents and closest relatives, did none of you ever notice anything?”
“She’s been dead for six years. In all that time, not once did you wonder where your daughter went?”
Their words struck like a thunderclap. My parents stood frozen, speechless.
After a long pause, my father stammered, “N–No… that’s not what happened.”
“We only sent Eulalie back to the countryside because she did something wrong.”
“I… I was angry and slapped her a few times, but I regretted it afterward! I even told her foster parents to take good care of her.”
“I transferred money every month for her expenses. They always told me she was doing fine…”
Lies.
I cursed them silently, bitterness rising in my soul.”
All these years, Serena’s recurring illness had consumed their every thought.
Not once did they think about the daughter who had already died.
From the moment I reentered the Bell estate, I could tell something was off.
When they saw how thin and frail I had become, their eyes didn’t fill with concern or relief. Only disgust.
They hated how filthy I looked, hated that I dirtied their pristine carpet.
Hated that I didn’t know how to use their high–end appliances.
Hated that I couldn’t play piano or paint. That I was utterly useless in their world,
Anytime there was an event to attend, they brought Serena along as their shining star, leaving me behind like a shameful secret.
Even the housekeeper once said,
“They treat you worse than they treat Serena’s dog.”
So Serena’s sob story? Just a convenient excuse to toss me out.
And that so–called “support money” to the foster family? It wasn’t for me.
It was to quiet their own guilt, to silence gossip from the outside world.

The lead detective gave my parents a long, cold look. Disappointment clear in his eyes.
Then he said:
“There’s something else you need to know.”
“In addition to this case, the gang also confessed the truth behind what you’ve always believed to be the ‘drugging incident.”
“They admitted Eulalie had nothing to do with it.”
“The entire thing was staged by Serena Bell, to get Eulalie kicked out of the Bell family.”
“Later, when Serena got sick and you brought Eulalie back for her treatment, Serena feared for her status. So she instructed the gang to attack Eulalie, recorded it, and used the footage as leverage.”
“At that time, Eulalie had just had a massive amount of blood drawn. Her body was too weak to fight back.”
“Her survival instincts carried her back to the house but her body had already given out. She collapsed at the doorstep, and her foster parents… buried her in the hill.”
With those words, the officers revealed my cause of death.
And uncovered the full truth.
The hatred that had weighed on my chest for years finally lifted.
And for the first time since my death, my soul felt… light.
But Clarence… was not so lucky.
A dark shadow had taken root in his heart. And it would never let go.
