Chapter 7
Freya POV
To avoid Jasper’s tracking, I bought a car under a fake name and drove until the sense of freedom was overwhelming.
Even the scenery along the road, which I’d seen a million times, looked new and beautiful.
I pulled open my collar in the rearview mirror and watched the mark on my collarbone flicker one last time before it
vanished.
He must have felt it.
Recalling my past life, tears streamed down my face.
My wolf let out a soft rumble. “We’re free. Why are you still crying?”
I smiled through my tears.
“These are happy tears.”
I settled into a small seaside town.
No television. No internet. Nothing that could feed me the smallest scrap of news about Jasper.
Each day, I let the ocean breeze tangle in my hair, let the sun warm my skin, let books fill the silence.
The unhappiness I had carried for years
slowly began to lift.

The pup in my belly grew stronger every day, occasionally tumbling around, and I’d rub my stomach and talk to him.
I thought this peaceful life would continue forever. But one day, as I returned from the beach, I saw a familiar silhouette standing in front of my door.
I instinctively turned to leave.
“Freya, wait-”
Jasper rushed to block my path, a flicker of cautious excitement in his eyes, as if he was afraid of startling me.
“Can we talk?”
After months, his perfectly tailored suits looked a little loose. The sharp lines of his face were more pronounced.
He had lost weight
We stared at each other in silence, a hundred unspoken words swirling between us.
His gaze burned with longing, regret, guilt.
His lips parted, but the first words wouldn’t come.
I wasn’t used to this tenderness from him.
“I’m a little tired,” I said calmly. “If there’s nothing else, please leave.”
I tried to walk past him, but he grabbed my wrist.
“Don’t go, Freya Please don’t leave me You’re pregnant. Why didn’t you tell me? I’ve been looking for you for months. I haven’t slept a single night since you disappeared ”
His voice was soft, but every word was raw pain.
I hesitated, then said, “Leaving without saying goodbye was wrong. So let me make it right now.” I looked at him steadily,

Goodbye, Jasper. We’re finished.”
Jasper’s eyes welled up.
“Why did you leave me? Wasn’t our life good? Everyone envied you. Everyone dreamed of being you.”
He slid a sapphire bracelet onto my wrist.
“Freya, if you were unhappy with our life, I’ll make it right. Just tell me what you need. Please come back. I miss you and the
pup.”
The sapphire glittered on my wrist, the massive stone, the expensive design. It was so typically Jasper.
An expensive piece of jewelry to smooth over another argument.
My heart was unmoved.
I took off the bracelet and put it back in his hand.
I thought of my last life, of crying every day in front of a closet full of expensive jewels while he saw my tears as
ungratefulness, pushing me further and further into depression.
I took a deep breath, inhaling the air of my new freedom. I never wanted to be in that golden cage again.
“What is this supposed to be? Another one of your apologies? Every one of your apologies is so expensive, and every one of
them is worthless.”
I looked him in the eye.
“If happiness and love could be measured in money, you would be the happiest and most loved man in the world. But are you?
“I didn’t take a single one of your jewels when I left. I’m not accepting your apology, and I’m tired.”
He just stared at me blankly, as if he didn’t understand what I was saying.
“You had everything. What more could you possibly want?” he asked, a hint of frustration in his voice.
I looked at him calmly.
“I just wanted your love, pure and simple.”
“But every time we were having an important moment, even on my birthday or our anniversary, she would make a phone call and you would leave my side.”
“You always said you were just friends, but you always put her first. You always believed her, even when she gave me the chia seeds, even when she didn’t even want the food I made, and just wanted to humiliate me.”
“You chose to believe her because she was the one you could never truly move on from.”
I thought I would never cry over him again, but my voice broke Tears streamed down my face.
Jasper wiped them away.
I’m sorry I’m not used to showing my true feelings. I must have misled you.”
Just then, his phone rang His assistant’s frantic voice came through the line.
Su, Halle is live–streaming to the media. she’s talking about your impending wedding…”
Jasper pulled up the link
On the screen, Halle was talking about her intimate relationship with Jasper,

He looked at me awkwardly, then told the assistant in an icy tone.
“Shut down the live stream immediately. Delete all records. Every person involved is to be silenced.”
He leaned in and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
“I’m sorry. I have to deal with this. When I get back, I swear, I only love you.”
