Chapter 8
Freya POV
Jasper left, and his words, “I only love you,” echoed in my heart.
He was a man of his word, though he was rarely given to sweet talk. Over five years, he had said “I love you” a handful of
times at most.
I touched my pregnant belly and asked my pup.
“Sweetheart, are you willing to forgive your father?”
My pup rolled around inside me, but I couldn’t understand his answer.
Hours later, Jasper’s assistant sent me a message:
[All negative information has been handled. Please rest easy, Madam.]
Attached was a link.
I clicked it open and watched Halle on screen, her eyes brimming with tears.
“For fame and personal gain, I shamelessly used my friendship with Jasper to create a scandal. I have caused severe harm to both Jasper and his wife, and for that, I offer my sincerest apology…”
The online world immediately turned on her, criticizing her for her inappropriate boundary–crossing with Jasper, accusing her of coveting my place, and fabricating rumors to damage my public image.
With the truth revealed, the online storm quickly subsided.
Three days later, there was a knock on my door.
Jasper was standing there, holding a small bouquet of flowers.
“I came… to apologize.”
He said the words with visible difficulty.
“You know I’m not used to this. But I think… I can learn.”
He held the flowers out to me.
“No expensive gift, just my sincerity. I hope you’ll accept it.”
“What did you do about Halle?”
I took the flowers, arranged them in a vase, and placed them on the table.
They were the most unassuming bunch of flowers from the shop, looking simple and inexpensive. But I liked them. Jasper’s smiled. “She caused a great deal of distress for my inate. I won’t allow her back into my life. She will not be present at any events I attend, and I will no longer proactively check in on her
“But we have been friends for many years, so if she needs help, I will still offer a hand and have my assistant deal with it ” He looked straight at me.
“Every piece of my heart belongs to you. No one else gets a share”
He gently pulled me into his arms “Is it enough?”
Tears pricked at my eyes, and I sniffled, trying to hold them back.

“How do I know you’re not just putting on a show?”
Jasper’s gaze darkened.
“Freya, I always thought an arranged marriage was just about responsibility, that love had no place in it. And then I met you.
“Others only ever saw my power, but you saw my endurance. When I was stressed and overwhelmed with work, you were my
peaceful harbor. When I was happy, your eyes held more joy than my own.
“I don’t know when I fell in love with you, but without me realizing it, you became a part of my life. For the six months you’ve been gone, I’ve been in agony, barely holding myself together.”
He buried his face in my shoulder, his voice trembling.
This towering, formidable alpha
“Please don’t leave me,” he rasped. “If I
vulnerable in this moment.
dn’t love you well before, please give me a chance to fix it.”
He placed a hand on my stomach. “And our pup. He needs a father who loves him.”
My pup rolled inside my belly, as if in
agreement.
I reached up and wiped the tears from Jasper’s eyes.
“I… I’m not sure you can change, but we can try to make it work.”
A knock at the door interrupted us.
I leaned in to kiss him softly before going to open it.
The door had barely swung wide when a figure lunged at me.
“You bitch! You’ll pay for this–I’ll kill you!”
Halle
She slammed straight into my stomach, right where my baby lay.

Chapter 9
Freya POV
I didn’t even have time to react before I was slammed to the floor.
Halle went wild, kicking and clawing at me.
The pain ripped through me, and I curled in on myself, arms wrapped protectively around my stomach.
“Halle, what the hell are you doing?!”
Jasper stormed in, shoving her away.
She froze, stunned.
“What are you doing here, Jasper?”
Jasper’s voice was thunder.
“Halle, how dare you lay a hand on Freya? This time
, you won’t get away with this.”
He dropped to his knees, pulling me into his arms, his breath shaking.
“Freya, are you hurt? I’m taking you to the hospital right now.”
Halle’s eyes brimmed with tears.
“Jasper, stop lying to yourself. You’ve loved me all along, since ten years ago.”
I
“She’s just a distraction you amused yourself with while I was gone.”
“Come back to me. We can start over. You know it’s me you want.”
Jasper’s gaze turned to ice.
“I’ll say this one last time: I never loved you. Not then, not now. And I know exactly what I want. It’s not you.”
“I gave you every chance to keep your dignity. You threw it away. And now you’ve dared to hurt the woman I love most.”
He swept me into his arms and headed for the door.
“Halle, neither my wife nor I ever want to see you again. Cross that line again, and the consequences will be far worse.”
Our son came early–two weeks before his due date–but he was strong, healthy, perfect.
Jasper held him like the most fragile treasure, tears streaming down his face.
“I almost lost you both. You and my sweet pup are my everything”
Then he pulled out a velvet box, revealing a massive diamond ring that caught the light.
Dropping to one knee, his voice broke.
*Freya will you be my mate again?”
Tears blunted my vision as I nodded. He shid the ring onto my finger, sealing the promise.
Jasper brought me home and marked me once more.
This time, I wasn’t just Mrs. Brolin by name.
Chapter 9
I had real happiness.
Halle disappeared from our lives. For good.
Later, Jasper’s assistant sent me a file on her.

After I left, she began dropping hints to the media that she was carrying Jasper’s pup.
She tried everything she could think of to get him to mark her, but Jasper ignored her.
Realizing she would never be Mrs. Brolin, she gave in to a life of recklessness.
She drowned herself in parties and one–night stands.
During one wild night, she lost the pup.
Still, she clung to her fabricated image, feeding gossip sites false stories about Jasper until he finally cut her off completely, shutting every door in her face.
I swiped the report away, deleting it from my phone.
When I looked up, Jasper was walking toward me, our son in his arms.
He pulled us both into his embrace, his voice rough with emotion.
“Thank you, Freya. You’re the one who showed me what happiness really means.”
