Chapter 12

Gabriella sat on the soft cushion by the bay window, her hands propping up her chin as she gazed out at the deep blue sea. On the beach, children and adults played games, their laughter echoing through the air.
She had been living on this remote little island for two months now, able to see beautiful scenery every day, which soothed her gloomy mood.
The place Emilian Kingsley had chosen truly was a paradise for vacations.
“Gabriella, come over for lunch.”

Gabriella turned to look at Emilian, who was wearing an apron and setting the table, and smiled gently. “Coming.”
Outsiders all said that Emilian was ruthless and merciless, a true villain through and through.
But only Gabriella had seen him in home clothes, wearing gloves and an apron, quietly and peacefully cooking in the kitchen.
“What delicious things have you made today?”
“Beef Wellington, Bouillabaisse, Ratatouille, Paella, Crème Brûlée- everything you love is here.”
Gabriella unceremoniously picked up a fork to taste, smiling lightly as she said, “It’s such a dilemma. If I stay any longer, I’m afraid you’ll feed me until I gain 9 pounds.”

Emilian’s gaze was intense, his tone unusually gentle and affectionate. “As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters. Whatever you want to eat, I can make or learn to make it.”
“I’m already very satisfied, Chef Kingsley.”
Gabriella lowered her head and ate carefully, taking a little bit of each dish.
She could feel that strong, undeniable gaze fixed on her–Emilian’s burning eyes.
It seemed that his greatest joy in life was watching her eat the food he made with his own hands.
Half an hour later, Gabriella finally finished eating, and Emilian cleared the table.
Afterwards, he handed Gabriella her sorted medication, holding up a glass of water and waiting for her to reach out.
It was medicine for depression, and Gabriella had been taking it for two
months.
This time, she still smiled as she took the medicine, as if that could hide the trace of bitterness at the corner of her mouth.
But Emilian saw all her little emotions.
“If you can’t bear to leave Daniel and Jerome, I can take you back to them right now, so you can reunite with father and son.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll deal with Cynthia quietly and make sure your future is filled with family happiness.”
As Emilian said this, veins bulged on his arms, revealing his extreme

restraint.
He didn’t want Gabriella to leave, but he couldn’t stand to see her force a smile.
Gabriella’s eyes flickered slightly, then she shook her head. “I won’t go back. After being the one who ruins the mood for so many years, with my dignity trampled, it’s time to wake up.”
“I’m slowly getting better, so don’t worry, Emilian. I’m looking forward
now.”
Emilian stared motionlessly at the woman before him, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “Alright, I’ll be with you.”
The afternoon sunlight on the island was no longer so harsh, and Emilian suggested they go to the beach to learn surfing.
Gabriella gladly agreed.
Filling her mind with different hobbies kept her from falling into complicated emotions.
Gabriella stood shakily on the surfboard, while Emilian stayed close by, protecting her and explaining the key movements.
They were very, very close, their breaths mingling at the tips of their
noses.
“Mom, Dad and I came to find you!”
Jerome’s voice came from afar, and Gabriella, standing on the surfboard, suddenly turned her head.
She saw Daniel holding their son’s hand, striding toward the part of the sea where she and Emilian were.
