Chapter 21
Victor sat slumped against the door for ages before finally standing up and whispering to it: “Lily, if you get your memories back, will you come back to me?”
Victor firmly believed that once Lily regained her memory, she’d definitely return to him.
After all, Lily had chased him for seven years–how could she just move on overnight?
Victor went back to Washington and rummaged through his place for Lily’s belongings, hoping they’d trigger her memory.
But after turning the whole house upside down, he only found one scented pouch she’d made him, tucked away in a storage room corner.
Victor asked a maid: “What happened to all the things Lily gave me that were stored here?”
The maid replied: “Didn’t you tell us to throw them out before?”
Hearing this, Victor waved them off impatiently and kept searching, desperate to find any trace of their past.
Victor rushed to New York with his meager find, waiting below Lily’s apartment all day until she came down with Benjamin.
Ignoring Benjamin’s presence, Victor thrust the item toward Lily.
“Lily, remember this scented pouch?
You said back then…”

Lily hurled what he offered straight to the ground.
“Victor, you think this junk will win me back?
I’ve told you–I don’t remember you. We’re done. Stop harassing me!”

Seeing her cold resolve, Victor grabbed for her hand to stop her leaving.
Benjamin instantly stepped between them, shielding Lily.
Blinded by rage, Victor punched Benjamin square in the face. Benjamin retaliated without hesitation, and they brawled right there.
Lily wrapped her arms around Benjamin’s waist, pulling him back. “Benjamin, stop! Your lip’s swelling.”
Benjamin wiped blood from his mouth, glaring at Victor’s disheveled form before spitting on the ground.
“If you harass Lily again, I’ll beat you senseless every single time.”
Lily clasped Benjamin’s hand, cradling his face to examine the cut.
“Skin’s broken. Let’s get you patched up at home.”
Watching their intimacy, Victor felt his heart tear open.
“Lily…”
Lily heard Victor call but didn’t turn, just led Benjamin toward the building.
Victor tried to follow, but his legs turned to lead, leaving him frozen as they disappeared inside.

Everything Benjamin had now–Victor had thrown it away. He’d trampled Lily’s devotion, shoving the woman who loved him into another man’s
arms.
Victor stood alone in the gathering darkness, rooted to the spot as night swallowed the street.
“Victor.”
Victor heard someone call him suddenly and thought it was Lily, quickly looking up only to find it was Sophie.
Victor looked at Sophie with utter disgust, “What are you doing here?”
Sophie’s eyes welled up with tears, gazing at Victor with a pitiful expression.
“Victor, I know I was wrong… what happened before was my fault…..
As she spoke, Sophie tried to reach for Victor’s hand.
Victor avoided her touch, staring coldly at her.
