Shawn’s POV
The entire hall gasped in shock.
Shawn’s knees nearly buckled. “What?” His voice was hoarse and filled with disbelief.
The assistant was panting as he frantically tried to explain. “The accounts… the funding… it’s gone! Rory pulled out everything, sir. We’re finished!”
For a second, the words didn’t register.
The room erupted like an explosion. Guests gaped in shock, investors yelled in outrage.
“What do you mean bankrupt?”
“I knew Carter Enterprises was on borrowed time.”
His throat tightened. He clutched the papers in his hands, holding them so tightly they crumpled.
“This can’t be happening,” he whispered. “It can’t—”
The crowd got louder.
“I’ll be pulling my business first thing tomorrow morning!” one investor snapped.
“Tomorrow?” another barked. “I’m not waiting till tomorrow. I’m out, right now.”
The murmurs turned harsher and louder. Kane was glaring at him, his grin from before was gone, it was replaced by a cold glare.
The chaos around was suffocating. Investors were shouting. Guests were whispering. Tiffany was crying. His assistant was stammering.
Suddenly, something inside him snapped.
“GET OUT!” he roared. His voice rang through the room, like thunder. He snarled as he slammed the papers on the table. “All of you! OUT!”
The room fell silent for a split second, then they began moving. Angry voices rose again.
“Pathetic.”
“Without Aurora, he’s nothing.”
“He thought he could cheat on her and get away with it. What a fool.”
“Let’s go, he is finished.”
Somebody shoved Tiffany as he bumped past her. She stumbled, lost her balance and fell to the floor with a sharp cry. “Shawn!” she whimpered. “Shawn, help me-”
He didn’t even look at her. His eyes were locked on the two documents. The Divorce Agreement and The Divestment Agreement.
One woman deliberately stepped on Tiffany’s hand as she walked away. Tiffany cried out in pain. “Shawn!”

But Shawn wasn’t paying attention.
His assistant tried to salvage the mess, “Please, wait! We can explain-”
But nobody listened.
The room emptied quickly.
Tiffany scrambled up with tears running down her face, “Shawn, my hands-”
Shawn’s mind was far away. He shoved past Tiffany, ignoring her desperate pleas. His feet moved before he could think.
He stormed through the back exit, ignoring everything else as he rushed to his car, yanked the door open, and drove off.
He was driving without control, but he didn’t care. He drove like a madman ignoring the traffic lights, and the horns of angry drivers. The only thought on his mind was getting home as fast as possible to fix whatever he could.
Aurora was his wife. She loved him. She had given up her family for him. He just needed to explain, and apologize. She would forgive him..
Immediately he got home, he pulled into the driveway recklessly, and jumped out without even closing the door as he ran up the steps.
“Aurora!” he bellowed, slamming the door open. “Aurora!”
Silence. His stomach dropped.
He ran into the living room, yelling her name. No response. He rushed into the dining hall. Silence. He ran upstairs, rushing into the guest bedroom that she had moved into. It was
empty.
As he opened her closet, his heart skipped a beat. It was empty. Her clothes, shoes, jewelry, were all gone.
The air was knocked out of him, and he gripped the wall beside him for support as his
knees buckled.
No. No, no, no. She couldn’t have left. Not like this. Where did she have to go to? Because as far as he knew, she had no one.
He rushed to the master bedroom, and the storage rooms. Nothing.
And then a memory hit him.
A few days ago, he had walked in and had seen her folding her clothes into boxes. He had frowned, and asked what she was doing. She had replied simply, “I’m just reorganizing my
closet.”
He hadn’t thought much of it because he got distracted as Tiffany came in.
Aurora had been preparing all along to leave him.
He stumbled back into the bedroom, running his hand through his hair erratically.
Those pictures were burned into his mind. How had Aurora found out? How did she get

those pictures?
Why didn’t she say anything? Why didn’t she confront him?
So many questions raced through his mind.
His eyes darted to the crumpled envelope that he had dropped on the floor as he rushed in. He noticed that there was something else inside.
His hands shook as he pulled out another document. His stomach dropped as he opened
- it.
It was a medical document. His eyes scanned through it quickly, his heart pounding.
Donor: Jasmine Carter…
Recipient: Tiffany Brooks.
Authorized by: Aurora Carter.
His breath caught, and he paled.
It was the transplant agreement. The very one that Aurora had signed that day, believing it was just a merger contract.
And now it was staring back at him as proof that Aurora knew.
She knew he had given their daughter’s heart to Tiffany She knew he had killed their daughter for his mistress.
The paper slipped from his shaking hands and fell to the floor.
He sank to the bed, panting heavily as his entire body shook,
