He signed it! He actually signed it! The idiot just sold his soul and is helping them count the money! Hahaha!
I was so happy I did a little somersault on the bed.
With the contract signed, Landon received his first assignment: steal the core data for the West End project.
The very next day, he strode into the Sterling Corp finance department as if he already owned the place.
“Pull up the last three years of financial statements and the cash flow records for all ongoing projects,” he commanded.
Mr. Wallace, ever loyal, knew exactly what was happening. He stalled for time while secretly messaging my mother. “Mr. Sterling,
this is highly confidential information. I can’t release it without Ms. Sterling’s authorization.”
Landon’s face darkened. “Insolence! Who’s your boss, me or her? I’m in charge now, and
my
word is law!”

Chapter 2
Just as he was about to physically grab the computer, the office door swung open. Mom walked in, holding me, surrounded by a group of senior executives.
“What do you need our company’s core secrets for?” Mom’s voice was quiet but carried an undeniable weight of authority.
Landon was startled at first, but then he puffed out his chest. “What I do is none of your business.”
“Renee, I suggest you cooperate. Step down from the chairman’s seat gracefully. Otherwise, don’t blame me for forgetting we were
ever married.”
He thought his new, powerful backer made him untouchable. The other executives just stared at him like he was a lunatic.
Mom laughed. “Married? You think you’re worthy of that word?”
She slapped a document against his chest. “Take a good look at what you are.”
Landon picked it up. When he saw the words “Divorce Agreement” and his own flamboyant signature at the bottom, he froze.
“No… that’s impossible! When did I sign this?”
“That’s your signature, isn’t it?” Mom’s voice was like ice. “And let me remind you of the terms. You leave with nothing. As of this
moment, you have no connection to Sterling Corp, or to me.”
“Security, get him out of my building.”
Landon’s face went from white to a deep, mottled purple as the reality of the situation crashed down on him.
“Renee! You venomous bitch! You set me up!” he shrieked, his eyes wild with hatred as he lunged for us.
I was startled by his terrifying expression, my little body tensing up.
A warm stream shot out, hitting him square in the face.
Landon froze mid–lunge. He wiped a hand across his face, sniffed it, and let out a bloodcurdling scream.
“AAAAH! I’LL KILL YOU!”
Before he could take another step, a security guard’s boot connected with his stomach, sending him sprawling. After a brief but
thorough beating, he was dragged out of the building like a sack of trash.
His reign was over before it had even begun. Work
Landon and his family completely lost their minds. Penniless, homeless, and drowning in debt he couldn’t repay. They tried to find “Mr. Chen,” but he had vanished without a trace. They came back to our villa, but couldn’t even get past the front gate.
And a cornered dog will always bite. They directed all of their rage, all of their hatred, at me and my mother.
