After their final mission, Graysen Pearce and Caroline Ingram postponed their upcoming wedding.
The entire riot squad was stunned.
Graysen loved Caroline to the bone. They had been together for seven years, and he even told the whole world that Caroline was the only woman he would marry.
But people didn’t know that something had happened.
On the bomb disposal mission, the kidnappers had placed over a dozen bombs.
However, Graysen put the last bulletproof vest on Marlene Wagner, who joined the squad later than them, and explained it to Caroline.
“Marlene is not as experienced as you. Let her have the last vest, will you?”
Caroline did not object, nor did she speak.
Just after the task was completed, Caroline submitted her request to go on a foreign mission.

The team’s beloved rookie, Marlene, got injured during the retreat.
Despite being Caroline’s fiancé, Graysen directly sent Marlene into the operating room, red. Then he turned around and fiercely shook Caroline, interrogating her.

“Why didn’t you save Marlene?
“How could you just stand there and watch her get hurt?”
The doubt and impatience in his eyes hit Caroline like a blow to the head, making her dizzy.
He seemed to have forgotten that the mission was to dismantle the bomb and rescue the hostages.
As a member of the bomb squad, having the ability to self–rescue was the most fundamental quality.
The other team members just stood by and added fuel to the fire.

“She must have been jealous of Marlene, so she deliberately didn’t save her. I didn’t expect her to
be so petty.”
“We shouldn’t go on missions with her anymore. She scared me.”
They commented one after another as if Caroline was the one responsible for the accident.
And they also forgot that it was because of her excellence that their lives were saved.
But they gathered together and blamed her.
With this in mind, Caroline remained calm on the surface.
She simply brushed off the dust from her body, raised her gaze, and said, “Alright, from now on,
you guys will be on the same team as Marlene. I wish you all the best in your future missions.”
As soon as she said those words, the whole room fell silent.
Although they didn’t want to admit it, the entire bomb squad indeed completed every mission
because of Caroline.
Graysen suddenly realized that he had gone too far and quickly tried to fix it.
“Caroline, sorry, I didn’t mean that.
“Marlene is still in surgery, and I am just worried about her. You know, after all, she is our
youngest member.”
“Okay.”
Caroline responded indifferently, feeling a bit deprecated.
Although she and Marlene were the same age, Graysen always felt that Marlene was younger.
He even affectionately called Marlene by her first name at work, while referring to Caroline as
Ingram.
Since Marlene joined the squad, Graysen gradually gave her all the privileges.
Caroline, however, was the one Graysen had been seeing for seven years, and the one he was
marrying the following week.
At that moment, Graysen just seemed so strange to Caroline.

Caroline bit her lip bitterly, feeling a sharp pain in her injured arm. She looked across the entire room, only to discover that the whole team, including her fiancé, were all safe and sound.
She was the only one who got hurt.
And yet they blamed her for not coming to Marlene’s rescue.
Why didn’t they save Marlene themselves since they cared so much about her?
The incessant pains made her face turn pale, and she trembled uncontrollably all over. Weakly pushing Graysen away, Caroline stumbled and searched for an orthopedic doctor alone. Without any surprises, her bone must have been fractured.
The man behind her didn’t even move.
With a glance from the corner of her eye, Caroline found Graysen staring blankly at the ICU. It made sense. His beloved Marlene was still in a coma, so how could he notice her injury?

She turned back silently, her nose twitching. Then she used all her strength to hold back the
welled–up tears.
It would have been embarrassing if someone had mistakenly thought that she, as a bomb disposal expert, cried because of the pain. Caroline hastily wiped her face, removing all traces of sadness
from the corners of her eyes.
At that moment, Graysen’s voice came from behind.
“Caroline, let me go with you.‘

Right now, she didn’t feel surprised at all but just had mixed feelings.
Dr. Clark, who Caroline frequently saw, had an unpleasant expression and said, “Caroline, if you had come a little later, you would have lost this arm and never gone on another mission.
“Graysen, you too, couldn’t you persuade your girlfriend not to risk her life on the mission?”
Dr. Clark turned to look at Graysen, also displeased.
Thinking about the accusation he had just made, Graysen guiltily looked away and nodded
awkwardly.
Caroline repeatedly agreed and smoothed things up with a smile, as Dr. Clark only said these for her
good.
