“Mom? Perseus, Christopher…” cried Selina.

They knew about Mikita, but how much did they know?
Perseus hissed. “Stop pretending, Selina! Seeing you like this makes us sick! We were fools to ever be deceived by your act!”

Zacharias‘ heart ached as he took in Selina’s burned neck, sweating forehead, and her helpless crying.
He pulled the trembling Selina into his arms, his voice deep and firm.
“You probably know by now that Selina and I are together. Is that why you’re treating her like this? It’s my fault! I forced her last night while drunk. She’s innocent-”
“Selina, you’ve perfectly inherited your mother’s shameless genes! You, innocent? Pfft! Zacharias, if it weren’t for her, would Anne have divorced you? Do you still think she’s innocent?”
Melanie’s laughter turned venomous, tears streaming as her rage mixed with regret.
Zacharias frowned. “What do you mean?”
“Don’t you know? Selina is my father’s illegitimate daughter. Twenty–two years ago, that mistress secretly switched Selina for Anneliese!” answered Perseus.
Hearing that, Zacharias loosened his hold on Selina.
She panicked. “Perseus! What are you saying?”
“How is this possible?” he whispered, disbelief in his eyes.
“How is it not? The paternity report is right here. That mistress went on to have another child with my father, and they’ve been sneaking around all this while!”
Christopher tossed the report to Zacharias, who picked it up and skimmed through the documents.
By the time he glanced at Selina again, his gaze was chilling.
Despite not being the real heiress, he’d always thought Selina was innocent.
Her biological mother had apparently died in a car accident, and no one ever bothered looking into it.
However, he now discovered that Selina was Timothy’s illegitimate daughter. Her real mother was despicable, and Selina had taken everything that belonged to Anneliese.
