Chapter 168
Author’s POV
Queenie couldn’t believe that Elena–who normally wouldn’t even raise her voice around her and always tolerated her bullying–had suddenly done a complete 180 and stood up to her so firmly.
How could she save face after this?
Worse, this was happening in front of Suzanna, her best friend.
They shared the same social circle, and if word got out, she’d be humiliated. Her features unconsciously twisted in anger. “Fine, if that’s how you want it, then we’ll-”
“Summer!!!”
Her threat was abruptly cut off as Suzanna grabbed her wrist with surprising strength. Queenie winced in pain and snapped, “Suzanna, what’s gotten into you?”
But Suzanna seemed not to hear her words. Her eyes were fixed directly on the woman standing near Elena, her brows furrowed in disbelief. “You’re supposed to be dead! You drowned in that river!”
From the moment she first saw the woman, Suzanna had recognized her–but she couldn’t believe it. She thought she was hallucinating and fell into a daze…
Only after pinching herself hard and feeling the pain did she accept that she wasn’t seeing things–this was all real.
The woman she had once hated with every fiber of her being, the woman who should have been dead with no remains to find, was now standing before her, alive and well!
The last time Suzanna had seen Summer, she’d been exiled from Blackwood Pack after Alpha Alexander had removed her kidney without proper medical care.
Rogues had hunted her down afterward, and though Moore had died in the attack, Summer had been rescued by another pack far to the south.
They’d nursed her back to health, never knowing her true identity or the crimes she had committed against the Alpha’s mate and son.
The woman stared back at her calmly. “I think you have me confused with someone else,” she said evenly. “My name is Sarah.”
Even if she wasn’t Summer, the sight of that face was enough to reignite Suzanna’s hatred. Everything she’d lost was because of Summer, and she couldn’t say a single kind word. “Queenie, you’re right–Elena really is worthless.”
“The kind of person you are is reflected in the friends you keep. Trash surrounds itself with more trash!”

Sarah took a deep breath, her hands clenching at her sides until her knuckles cracked audibly.
“How dare you talk like that? Ania shouted, her face flushing with rage as she heard Elena and Sarah being insulted. She rushed forward, fury radiating from her small frame. “You’re the trash here! Your whole family is trash!”
Suzanna’s anger flared, her voice rising several notches “You filthy little brat, you dare talk to me that way? Do you have any idea who I am?”
Aría gave a scornful laugh. “I don’t care who you are. Anyone who bullies my mom gets the same treatment, even if you were the Moon Goddess herself. What are you going to do about it?”
Suzanna raised her hand to slap Aría across the face. “You’re dead!”
Sarah’s POV
In a flash, I caught her wrist in mid–air, my grip like iron.
The moment I touched her skin, memories flooded back–memories of what this woman had done to my son, how she had manipulated Foster into harvesting Felix’s organs for her precious Moore.
Looking into those hateful eyes that I’d hoped never to see again, I felt my control slipping.
My fingers tightened around her wrist until I could feel the bones grinding together.
“Touch my daughter,” I growled, “and it will be the last thing you ever do.”
Suzanna yanked her hand away with effort, rubbing her wrist. A cold smile curved her lips. “Sarah… we have plenty of time ahead of us. We’ll see how things play out, won’t we?”
“Get away from us!” Aría shoved Suzanna hard, her young face contorted with protective rage. “You stinking piece of trash, stay away from us!”
Despite her small stature, Aria was surprisingly strong. Suzanna, caught off guard, stumbled backward and nearly fell before Queenie caught her arm. Queenie glared at Elena. “Look at what your friends are doing! Is this acceptable behavior?”
Suzanna was furious, lunging toward Aria with murderous intent. Elena quickly stepped in front of my daughter, her voice commanding. “Enough!”
The force behind that single word was enough to momentarily stun both Suzanna and Queenie. When they recovered, Elena was scanning them with a cold gaze. “This is a public mall with people coming and going, Aren’t you ashamed to be causing such a scene? What would your families think?”

“You’re supposed to be well bred ladies from good families. Remember that your behavior reflects not just on yourselves but on your entire pack!”
Queenie laughed, as if she’d heard a ridiculous joke. “Elena, you haven’t even married my brother yet, but you’re already acting like you’re the Luna of our pack?”
“Lecturing me? Take a look at yourself first you’re not worthy.”
“Let me make this clear: if you and your friends don’t apologize to me right now, you can forget about marrying my brother.”
Elena’s face paled, but she showed no fear. Her voice was ice–cold when she replied, “Whether your brother marries me or not is between him and me. It has nothing to do with you.”
Queenie crossed her arms over her chest. “Elena, I will make you pay for your insolence.”
I was still seething, ready to argue further, but Elena pulled me back. “That’s enough. Come help me change out of this dress,”
Looking at Queenie and Suzanna’s ugly expressions, I couldn’t let this go so easily. I narrowed my eyes at them. “you’re right. When dogs bite, you don’t bite back–you’ll just get a mouthful of fur.”
Suzanna, as furious as ever, suddenly lunged at me again, but Queenie grabbed her arm just in time. “What’s the rush?” Queenie said sharply. “I already have a plan to deal with them.”
The two of them turned slightly away, heads tilted toward each other. I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but they were whispering–plotting something.
Suzanna glanced back at me, and the look in her eyes made my stomach tighten. Cold. Poisonous. Calculated.
“Just wait, Sarah,” she hissed. “I’ll make sure you die a painful death.”
Without another word, she turned and walked out of the bridal shop with Queenie.
I watched their backs as they headed toward the mall exit, and I knew deep in my gut–this wasn’t over.
Then Elena entered the changing room, exhausted, to remove the damaged wedding dress. Aria followed her, concern etched on her young face.
“Mom,” she said to me quietly, her voice troubled, “Aunt Elena is such a good person. Why do they have to bully her like that?”
“Don’t worry,” I reassured her, stroking her hair gently. “uncle David loves Elena deeply. He’ll protect his mate no matter what. And besides, she has us too.”
As the words left my mouth, my thoughts turned dark. Suzanna alive.

The woman who had been instrumental in Felix’s death–the woman whose selfish desire for her son had
cost me mine–was back.
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to calm down.
But one thing was certain–I would not let Suzanna take anything else from me. Never again.
