Chapter 8
Carolina sneered and suddenly pulled out a tablet from behind her back, opening an encrypted album: “Oh really? Then why are you still secretly keeping these photos?”
Braelynn’s pupils contracted sharply!
Those were photos she had secretly taken of Zachary’s profile and back during a business forum, back when she harbored secret feelings for him! The angles were perfect, capturing his rare moments of tranquility.
Last time she was cleaning up, she had forgotten that these were still saved in her cloud backup!
“Those were taken unintentionally a long time ago. I’ll delete them right.
now!”
As she spoke, she reached for the tablet, but Carolina quickly stepped back, dodging her hand. Her gaze turned icy: “Anyone can say nice. things. Compared to your verbal promises, I prefer to personally eliminate all risks.”
She gave Braelynn a deep look, took the tablet, and turned to go
downstairs.
Watching her back, Braelynn felt that wave of unease surge up inside her once again.
But in the days that followed, everything was calm. Carolina made no moves at all.
Soon, it was Carolina’s birthday.
Zachary hosted a grand birthday banquet for her at the city’s top hotel,
inviting nearly all the socialites and business partners in their circle.
He stayed by Carolina’s side the entire time, caring for her attentively, drawing envious glances from many of the women present.
Braelynn hadn’t wanted to attend, but Henry and Maria dragged her there,
and she sat alone in a corner.
As the party reached its climax, the host, beaming, began to announce the expensive gifts from the guests, and the atmosphere was lively.
“Ms. Braelynn Aidley, has given… uh…” When the host got to Braelynn’s name, he suddenly stumbled, looking at the gift list in his hand with a strange expression, “…a set of private photos?”
The entire room fell silent in an instant. Everyone’s eyes turned to Braelynn, then looked in confusion at Zachary and Carolina.
Zachary’s expression changed instantly.
Before anyone could react, the host–perhaps trying to liven up the atmosphere–connected the tablet to the big screen and, almost
absentmindedly, opened one of the photos… It was a shot of Zachary deep in thought by the window!
“Enough!” Zachary shouted abruptly, his face ashen!
But it was already too late!
The familiar scene and figure made it clear to everyone: these were photos. of Zachary that Braelynn had secretly kept!
Carolina’s face turned deathly pale. She shot to her feet, her eyes red as if she had suffered a tremendous grievance: “Lynn! Zach and I are about to get engaged, and yet at my birthday party, you… you give these in front of everyone……. Are you trying to make me the laughingstock of the whole city?!”
With that, as if she could no longer bear the humiliation, she covered her face and ran out of the banquet hall in tears!
“Carolina!”
Zachary called out anxiously, shooting Braelynn a fierce glare, his eyes filled with icy disgust.
Braelynn stood alone in the crowd, unable to defend herself.
Watching Carolina disappear, she finally understood why Carolina had taken those photos!
At that moment, a screech of brakes and a cry of alarm suddenly came from outside!
“Something’s wrong! Mr. Fidgett! Ms. Carolina ran out and seems to have been grazed by a car!”
Zachary’s face changed, and he rushed out like a madman.
The banquet hall became even more chaotic. Braelynn stood where she was, instantly becoming the target of everyone’s blame.
In the end, it was Henry and Maria who pushed through the crowd and took her home, shielding her.
“Braelynn! What on earth happened?!” As soon as they got home, Maria asked anxiously, “Those photos…”
“It wasn’t me!” Braelynn cried out in anger and frustration, tears finally falling. “It was Carolina! She took those old photos from me a few days ago! She did this on purpose to frame me today! I had no idea she would do something like this!”
Henry and Maria exchanged a glance. Seeing their eldest daughter’s. aggrieved and broken appearance, they chose to believe her.
Chapter 8
“Good girl, we believe you,” Maria said, hugging her with heartache.
“Carolina went too far this time! Just stay home and rest for now, don’t go. out. We’ll go to the hospital to check on Carolina!”
Henry and Maria hurried off to the hospital.
In the days that followed, Braelynn stayed home alone, but rumors had already spread throughout their entire social circle.
Whenever she went out, she could feel the strange looks and whispers coming at her from all directions.
She tried to explain, but no one believed her.
In everyone’s eyes, she was a vicious older sister, driven by jealousy to destroy her younger sister’s happiness by any means.
A few days later, Zachary returned.
He looked utterly exhausted, with dark stubble on his chin, but the look he gave Braelynn was filled with nothing but bone–chilling coldness and disgust.
“Braelynn,” his voice was hoarse but icy and forceful. “I told you, the person I chose is Carolina. You were the one who gave me up to her, saying you wanted to bless us! Why are you going back on your word? Why do you keep hurting her again and again? Do you know she was so frightened her health has gotten even worse!”
“It wasn’t me! Carolina took the photos herself! She set this up!”
“Enough!” Zachary cut her off sharply, his eyes full of distrust. “Even now, you’re still making excuses! Carolina would risk her own reputation and safety just to frame you? Braelynn, you’re truly hopeless!”
He took a deep breath, as if making a decision, and ordered toward the door: “Someone, come in!”
Two men in black suits entered in response.
“Ms. Braclynn Aidley, due to misconduct and causing serious emotional distress and negative impact to Ms. Carolina, effective immediately, part of your credit cards and privileges are revoked. Please move to the villa in the suburbs, and without my permission, you are not allowed to leave!”
