Chapter 9
Braelynn was struck as if by lightning, staring at him in disbelief. “Zachary! You’re going to confine me?! On what grounds?”
“This is the reflection you deserve!”
Braelynn was forcibly taken into a car and sent to a remote. tightly guarded villa.
Officially, it was a temporary stay, but in reality, it was no different from house arrest.
Her communication devices were temporarily confiscated, and her movements were restricted to the villa and its garden.
The people assigned to look after her constantly reminded her of her current situation.
Occasionally, the financial news she managed to see was flooded with grand reports about the union between the Fidgett and Aidley families, along with speculations and rumors about her being jealous and mentally
unstable.
A sense of humiliation and helplessness nearly drowned her.
She bit her lip so hard she tasted blood, wishing she could escape this place immediately.
This disguised form of house arrest lasted for some time.
When Zachary appeared again, he reeked of alcohol, and without a word, pinned Braelynn down as soon as he entered.
“What are you doing! We’re no longer married!” Braelynn cried out in

terror.
“Who says we’re not married? We were in our past life, and we are in this one too… Tonight. I’m going to exercise my rights as your husband!” Zachary tore Braelynn’s clothes apart and took her without a trace of
mercy.
Afterwards.
When Zachary woke up and saw Braelynn covered in bruises, he said. sarcastically, “You took advantage of me while I was drunk and seduced me. You really got your way. Here, this is a contraceptive pill. Take it, and don’t try anything sneaky!”
A contraceptive pill was thrown onto Braelynn’s face.
Braelynn clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her flesh! She swallowed the pill.
A few days later, Zachary came again.
He tossed a simple suitcase at her feet: “To prevent you from bothering Carolina again, you won’t be attending my and Carolina’s engagement party. Go abroad.”
Braelynn looked up at the man she had loved and hated for two lifetimes, suddenly feeling an overwhelming sense of sorrow, even laughing through her tears at the absurdity.
So be it.
She was going overseas anyway, to start a new life of her own.
She said nothing, quietly picked up her suitcase, turned around, and walked step by step toward the waiting car.

He had expected her to cry, to beg, to argue… He had even prepared what he would say in response.
But she just left like that?
A strange, inexplicable feeling and a strong urge to call her back surged
in his heart.
But in the end, he said nothing.
Anyway, she would come back after some time.
By then, he and Carolina would be engaged, their relationship stable, and she would no longer be able to ruin anything.
He told himself this, then turned and walked toward the city.
Carrying her suitcase, Braelynn went straight to the airport and bought the next available ticket to the city where the overseas branch was located.
Just as she was about to queue up for check–in, she suddenly heard the anxious voices of Henry and Maria calling from behind.
“Braelynn! Braelynn! Wait!”
Henry and Maria ran over, out of breath, their faces full of worry and heartache: “Child! How could you go abroad without telling your parents! It’s our fault, we’ve been taking care of Carolina these days, and neglected you. If Zachary hadn’t come to inform us, we wouldn’t have known you were leaving!”
Looking at Henry and Maria’s anxious faces, Braelynn felt a sting at the tip of her nose, and her eyes instantly turned red.
But she held back her tears, not wanting them to worry.
“Dad. Mom, I’m fine. I was going to leave anyway, so it’s better to go. sooner rather than later.” She forced a smile. “Carolina is about to get

engaged, and you two are getting older. Long flights are hard on you, so don’t tire yourselves out. Once I’m settled over there and marry Alexander,
I’ll contact you.”
Henry and Maria couldn’t rest easy and insisted on seeing her off, even wanting to go with her.
Braclynn also insisted they not see her off, repeatedly persuading them that the journey was long, their health couldn’t take it, and the family needed someone to look after it.

In the end, Henry and Maria could only compromise with tears in their
giving her countless reminders as they sent her through the security checkpoint.
The plane roared into the sky, the city lights outside the window growing smaller and smaller until they finally disappeared.
Braelynn’s tears finally broke free. But this time, what her tears washed away was not just humiliation and the past, but also made way for the unknown ahead–a new beginning.
