Zion walked in. “Mr. Fullbuster, I’ve prepared gifts for the hospital visit. Here’s the list. Please take a look, and if there’s nothing you want to add or remove, I’ll head to the hospital soon.”
Zion handed Jonathan the gift list, and he looked through it carefully.
There was quite a range–fresh fruit, healthy cereals and nuts, a home–use blood oxygen monitor, and several CDs signed by opera artists.
As Jonathan read through, Zion added, “I heard people in Baytree love opera, especially the older folks. I figured Mrs. Fullbuster’s grandma would enjoy it, too. I wasn’t sure which artist she likes, so I got a few different CDs.”
Jonathan nodded. “That’s thoughtful. Well done. This will do, but take the almonds out of the nuts.”
“Huh? Almonds are good for heart health…” Zion took back the list, puzzled.
“Her grandma is allergic to almonds,” Jonathan explained.
“Oh, I’ll make sure to remove them,” Zion answered quickly.
Jonathan nodded. Zion hesitated, then asked, “Mr. Fullbuster, are you really not going in person?”
Mr. Fullbuster even remembers that Mrs. Fullbuster’s grandma is allergic to almonds. That’s real attention to detail. He really cares about Mrs. Fullbuster.
Zion still felt that Jonathan shouldn’t miss such a good chance to visit.
“No.” Jonathan frowned, sticking to his decision.
After the funeral back then, his grandfather had taken him with more gifts to the Claude residence to express their gratitude and condolences.
But they never even made it inside, and Nishay refused to accept anything.
Frederick had saved Jonathan as part of his duty, but the death of Frederick’s wife and unborn child was a terrible accident.
Nishay had lost her only daughter, and in such a tragic way. It was only natural she would

blame Jonathan.
Jonathan wasn’t sure if Nishay’s feelings had changed after all these years.

Plus, Nishay had just had surgery. If he showed up and she recognized him, he worried it might upset her too much.
He also feared she still wouldn’t accept him, just as before.
Anneliese respected her grandma and always listened to her.
Maybe she wouldn’t even need her grandma to object–if Anneliese found out who he really was, she might hate him anyway.
He recalled what Zacharias said to him that day.
“Jonathan, you’re a coward! You’re the lowest of the low. You lied to her and hid the truth from her. You don’t even dare to tell her who you are!
When she finds out what you’ve hidden, she’ll never want to be with you!
Jonathan, your so–called love is nothing but a lie! It’s pathetic. I’m just waiting for her to leave you and come back to me!”
The knot in Jonathan’s brow deepened even more.
He loosened his tie and unbuttoned two buttons at his collar, and only then did the suffocating feeling ease a little.
Meanwhile, at the police station, Selina contacted her Uncle Hiroto, and after a lot of trouble, they managed to hire a lawyer for Mikita. With the lawyer there, she met with Mikita.
The moment Mikita saw them, she completely broke down, crying uncontrollably. Selina frowned and scolded her.
“Mom, this isn’t the time to cry. Tell the lawyer exactly what happened back then, and don’t hide anything. You have to be honest.”
Mikita went over how she had switched the babies, telling the lawyer every
detail.
The lawyer took notes and asked, “Is there anything else you want to add?”
Mikita shook her head, then suddenly remembered something and looked at Selina.
“Selina, how did Anneliese get found by the White family? Did Melanie and Timothy bring her

back themselves? Did they do a DNA test?”

Selina frowned. “Mom, didn’t Dad tell you how Anneliese was brought back? Why are you asking about this now?”
Mikita looked dazed and shook her head. “It’s nothing. Maybe…”
“Maybe what? If you think something’s off, just say it!”
Sensing her hesitation, Selina pressed her.
Hiroto nodded. “Mikita, Jonathan hired a top lawyer for Anneliese. You can’t leave anything
out.”
Only then did Mikita look at both of them and say, “Selina, when I switched you and that girl, I changed all your clothes too. I remember it clearly–the girl had a big green birthmark on the inside of her right arm.
But when I accidentally pulled off Anneliese’s shirt today, her arm was clean. There wasn’t any birthmark there.”
