Beatrice reluctantly sat back down, staring wistfully as Ashton’s villa grew farther and farther away.
The car made two turns before stopping. The driver turned to Emily and said, “I only helped you out of respect for your sister. I cannot afford to cross Ashton. From now on, you are on your own to get close to
them.”
He was blatantly trying to get rid of them.
Emily gritted her teeth. “No wonder my sister doesn’t like you.”
The man shrugged, unconcerned. “I don’t care. That’s all in the past. Your sister and I broke up a long time ago. Get out of the car.”
If that woman didn’t have something on him, he wouldn’t have risked offending Ashton to get involved in this
mess.
His family had also heard the rumor that Ashton wasn’t a member of the Wade family, but his father had specifically warned him not to stir up trouble in front of Ashton at a time like this.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t even know how he ended up dead.
He thought, ‘Did the Wade family really think that Ashton’s prestige and power in Shoneport came from their
resources? How naive.’
At least, he and his father both knew that most of the Wade Group’s business partners were only willing to work with them because of Ashton’s reputation.

Emily needed a wheelchair to get around, so Beatrice had to push her after they got out of the car.

If he had known things would end up like this, he wouldn’t have played around so recklessly before. Now he was being blackmailed, and refusing was no longer an option.
Beatrice pushed the wheelchair, stopping not far from Ashton’s villa,

While the two of them were whispering to each other outside, Briar and Ashton were inside the villa, sitting on the sofa and watching the security monitor.
“It seems there aren’t many good people in your Wade family.” Both Briar and Ashton could read lips and understood what Emily was saying on the monitor.
Ashton shrugged. “Honey, I’m not part of the Wade family anymore.” It meant he was a good person.
Briar coughed lightly to hide her laugh. “Stop joking around. You should think about how to handle the people who will barge in later.”
Now that he was no longer part of the Wade family, some relatives who weren’t afraid of Ashton would naturally come looking for trouble.
Ashton said, “Honey, this plan to lure them out was your idea. You can’t just abandon poor, helpless me to face that pack of wolves from the Wade family all alone!”
Ashton’s dramatic reaction finally made Briar laugh. She pushed at the man leaning on her. “That’s enough. How are you helpless?”
Ashton draped himself all over Briar, refusing to be pushed away. He even wrapped his arms around her waist. “I don’t care. I’ve been kicked out of the family. You’re the only family I have left.”
Briar replied, “If your real parents heard you say that, they’d chase you down three streets to beat you.”
Ashton said, “I don’t care. Honey, you can’t leave me all alone.”
Completely exasperated by Ashton’s unreasonable behavior, Briar gave in. She cupped his face in her hands and nodded. “Alright, I won’t leave you. I’ll stay with you. Just stop nuzzling me.”
Only then did Ashton pull back. “Then let’s go face the storm together.”
Briar sighed. “You really need me for such a small storm?”
“It’s precisely the small stuff that I want you with me for. If it were a big storm, how could I let you get involved?” Ashton didn’t actually need Briar to face anything. He was just giving her an excuse to vent her anger.
Ever since she discovered that Zeke and Tristan, two of the people she trusted most, were also involved in the lab incident from years ago, Briar hadn’t stopped frowning.
Then, after returning to the country, she suffered betrayal from Len and Edgar one after another.
Ashton’s heart ached for Briar, who had carried so much hatred for so many years. He didn’t want her to keep carrying all this hatred alone. While he couldn’t let her go on a killing spree just yet, he could certainly help her vent her frustrations.
After all, the people arriving were from the Wade family. Whether they were beaten to death or crippled, it would all be considered an internal family matter. It wouldn’t become a public affair.
Emily would never have guessed that the people she called for help were just going to be Briar’s punching

If she had known their every move was under surveillance, she wouldn’t have dared to act so brazenly.
But there was no turning back time, and Emily’s backup had already arrived.
In less than half an hour, the people Emily called for arrived.
The head bodyguard got out of the car, walked up to Emily, and asked respectfully, “Miss Wade, as you instructed, we’ve all brought guns. Who are we going to capture?”
Emily didn’t look pleased. She and Beatrice needed help to get into Moonspring Estate, while the Wade family’s bodyguards could come and go freely.
It meant a lady of her status had less influence than her family’s bodyguards.
Still, now wasn’t the time to dwell on that. She composed herself and pointed to a nearby villa. “The person is in that villa. Storm in, take down everyone inside, and rescue a man covered in blood.”
The head bodyguard followed her finger, and when he saw which villa she meant, his face changed. “Miss Wade, do… do you… do you know who owns that villa?” He was so startled that he started to stutter.
Emily nodded dismissively. “Of course I do. It’s just Ashton’s house!”
The head bodyguard’s eyes widened upon hearing that.
He thought, “That’s easy for you to say, but we’re the ones putting our lives on the line! Besides, who the hell would dare break into Ashton’s home? Are you tired of living?‘
Even if there were ten more of them, they wouldn’t dare go head–on against Ashton. Every one of these Wade family bodyguards knew just how terrifying Ashton’s skills were.
Even if Brandon, Morton, Xavion, and Connor, the four strongest men under Ashton, joined forces, they might still not be able to suppress Ashton.
And they were supposed to storm his house, take him down, and rescue someone? They’d be lucky to walk away with their lives.
