Tru’s POV
Triss, stop
froze, my body stiff as the words sliced through the tension hanging in the air.
I wasn’t sure which side of me was winning the part that demanded pride, dignity, and the strength had built over years of being Direstone Pack’s fiercest warrior, or the side that trembled at the thought of my family, broken and suffering under Garron’s cruel hand.

The words hit harder than the weight of Garron’s boot now pressing against my chest. I tried not to flinch, but it was hard not to when his presence bore down on me like a shadow I couldn’t escape:
“So, Triss,” Garron drawled, “what was it that you and Elara were chatting about before I showed up? What does she want?”
My voice altered as I spoke, the words slipping out like they were strangling me. “She…she heard rumors… She just wanted to make sure I’m alright.”
*Nosy little bitch.” Garon sneered. “And those traitors in the packhouse? They’re gonna leam Owen, find out who blabbed to Elara. I want their tongue”

“But did she ask about the account book?” Garron’s voice softened, like a predator toying with its prey.
I lowered my head further, the weight of his gaze suffocating me. My long hair hid my face, like it could shield me from his judgment. “No,” I whispered, barely audible.
Garron let out a long breath. “Good Cause Alpha Thome’s already on my back about my performance. It he finds out about that book, we’re done for You keep it safe, Triss, and I’ll reward your loyalty. You know what that means.”
I nodded, the words of agreement heavy in my throat, “Of course, Gamma Garron”
Garron studied me for a moment, his fingers tapping on the armrest. Then, a slow grin spread across his face, and he spoke casually, “You’ve been good, Triss. You’ve earned something
My heart skipped a beat. “What do you mean?”
“It’s been three years since you last saw your family what do you say? Time to pay them a visit?”
I jerked my head up. “You mean it? Really?”
“Why not?” He shrugged, unfazed. “You’ve boog a good dog. Time for your treat.””
Garron flashed his phone screen at me, an address written there. My hands shook as I read it over and over, burning the location into my memory
I almost choked on my words, the gratitude threatening to break me. “Thank you. Thank you, Gamma Garron.”

Garron waved his hand, dismissive, his voice low and dangerous. “Just don’t get any ideas, then come back in!

It had been too long, remembered the life had before Garron destroyed it–the laughter, the love. My parents, so full of life. My brother, my sister, AR of it felt like a dream now

Tcould still hear the day they took them away. The way my sister screamed when they dragged her out of the house. The memory cut deeper every day. but I held onto it, because it was the only thing that had kept me going
When I arrived at the address, the reality hit ke a punch. It was a Cedar Camp.
I barely even saw the road; my hands gripped the steering wheel as I sped toward the gate, my breath shallow, my mind fixated on the faces I had missed so much.
There they were.
My parents, bent over and chopping wood under the watchful eyes of the guards. The weariness was etched on the faces, the exhaustion barely hidden behind their forced smiles. My brother and sister, too, carrying logs that were far too heavy for them. The whip cracked every time they faltered.
“Move it!” one guard barked.
Tears stung my eyes. This couldn’t be real..
Iran, tripping over my feet, and screamed, “No! Don’t hurt them!“”
They looked up, their eyes wide, the shock of seeing me almost too much to bear. Then came the tears, the relief in their faces, but they never reached
The guards were on us, and they were angry. One of them raised his whip, his face red with fury. “What do you think you’re doing? Get back to work!”
I didn’t have time to think. “I’m here by Gamma Garron’s order. He’said I could visit! Please, just let me talk to them” pleaded.
The guard only smirked, “Gamma Garron said you’re supposed to keep your distance. Now get back to work before I make things worse.”
And then the cracked the whip. The sound of it made my sister sob, the noise cutting through my soul
I couldn’t stand it anymore. Not when they were hurting my family, not when I had to watch them suffer.
