Chapter 9
James‘ reprimand failed to shut Isabella up. Instead, it made her even more enraged.
“How dare you yell at me, James Zeller? You were the one who told me that this woman shamelessly crawled into your bed back
then! If you hadn’t guaranteed that you definitely wouldn’t allow this woman to show up before us, I wouldn’t have married you!
“Has the sight of her lying on a hospital bed made your heart ache?” Isabella confronted James aggressively.
His face had turned red with anger, but he didn’t dare act rashly. He grabbed her hands and tried to drag her out of the ward, but
Isabella refused to budge.
She slapped James across the face, and he became annoyed after being hit several times for no reason.
He let go of Isabella’s hand and shoved her. “Are you done?”
Isabella’s stomach hit the doorframe. Her face twisted in pain, and she started crying out in pain with her hands on her belly.
James assumed she was putting on an act and snorted coldly. “Enough. It was just a light bump, wasn’t it? Stop using the child to
threaten me all the time.”
His only response was a pained cry from Isabella.
When Isabella continued to offer no response, he finally decided to look down at her. By this point, she was in so much pain that
she couldn’t say a word.
James‘ eyes widened. “Isabella? Why are you bleeding so much, Isabella? Don’t scare me!”
He hurriedly picked her up and rushed off to find a doctor.
It wasn’t until they had completely disappeared from sight that the adjoining toilet door, which had been tightly shut, opened.
Adrian walked out through the door with a guilty look. “I’ve let you down, Niall. Your daughter was harmed due to my flawed judgment…”
His voice became choked with sobs before he’d even finished speaking.
Dad patted him on the shoulder and said comfortingly, “There’s no knowing what’s in a man’s heart. I don’t blame you for this incident. I simply feel sorry for my poor Linny…”
I couldn’t help but shed tears at the thought of Jasper, who had died innocently and tragically.
In order to prevent the surroundings from stirring up my sadness, my parents got me discharged from the hospital as quickly as possible. We left this place of sadness with Jasper’s ashes in hand.
It was Adrian who kept us informed of subsequent news about James.
According to him, James‘ shove had caused Isabella to suffer a miscarriage.

Not only had the child been lost, but Isabella’s uterus had also been fundamentally damaged. As such, it would be very difficult
for her to conceive in the future.
James had truly been left with no descendants this time.
Regina had also been sent to prison, as I’d called the police on her before I left.
With witnesses, material evidence, and an official death certificate on hand, she wouldn’t be able to escape a prison sentence, no
matter how much she tried to argue her case.
She was doomed to spend the rest of her life in prison.
Due to the scene I’d caused at the entrance of the base, everyone on base now knew that James had only gotten his position thanks to his wife—a wife who’d been by his side through the toughest period of his life, whom he’d then left to live alone for
seven years.
After his reputation was dragged through the dirt, promotion was but a pipe dream to him, and he was stuck in his current
position for the rest of his career.
When the base later announced a mass layoff, he was among the first wave of personnel to be retrenched.
Although he received a large sum in compensation, an ambitious yet incompetent person like him quickly lost most of his money
through failed investments.
Isabella subsequently ran off with the rest of his money.
I heard that James‘ corpse was eventually discovered next to a trash can. Someone had even seen him rummaging through the
food in it before his death.
All I had to say about his death was that he deserved it.
After experiencing a disastrous marriage and the pain of losing my child, I went back to pursuing the career in scientific research
that I’d once abandoned.
With my parents‘ help, I enrolled in the National Academy of Sciences for further studies. I no longer constrained myself with
love and instead devoted all my efforts to scientific research,
Amid the unstoppable flow of time, all I wanted was to do my part in contributing to the development and growth of my country.
