Alyssa smiled as she studied the masked woman standing before her.
Victory glinted in her eyes. Her confidence originated from the fact that she had texted Elena before
coming on stage.
“Elena, even if you didn’t request this information, I’m going to tell you either way. A year ago, Megan
signed with Ferrell Entertainment. Since then, Megan and Jimmy have been interacting closely.
“You must feel dissatisfied that you miscarried Jimmy’s baby, only to be denied a public declaration of your relationship. Join my team, and I’ll be sure not to tell anyone about the fact that you had a
miscarriage.
“With how much media attention we’ve been garnering, I have no doubt I’ll be able to ensure Jimmy sees
how amazing you are.
“At the same time, we’ll expose Megan for her incapability and promiscuity. Everyone will see her for who
she is, a woman who can only survive by leeching onto another man.
“I didn’t mention your secret as a threat. This is a sign of my sincerity, Elena.”
Alyssa had deployed both the carrot and the stick. She would be damned if Elena could turn it down!
Alyssa was skilled at threats and persuasions.
With her microphone in hand, Megan greeted the crowd with a curtsy. Then, she turned to the three
people sitting in front of the stage.
Damian Reed, a 32–year–old pop singer. His love songs were in their own league and widely sung.
Marvin Coleman was a 28–year–old punk rock singer who fronted his own band.
Lastly, Alyssa Hardin. At 25 years of age, she was an Internet–famous floral artist with a curated online
persona. Known as a beauty with a fragile, melancholic allure, she also served as the marketing lead for
Celestial Voice“.
All three of them had invited Megan to join their team.
She stated somberly, “Thank you to the three of you for thinking so highly of me.”
“Then…” Megan paused before continuing, “Based on my personal style and the types of performances I’d like to try out here, I choose…”
The three judges‘ seats were placed in a half–moon formation with Alyssa in the middle and the other two beside her.
Megan strode straight ahead.
Alyssa looked utterly smug. She stood up as though she had already won.

Yet, Megan suddenly changed direction, heading toward Marvin,
“Mr. Coleman, can I join your team?” asked Megan politely. She reached her right hand out.
Marvin eyed Alyssa, whose expression had soured slightly. With a mischievous grin, he stood up.
“Of course.” He shook Megan’s outstretched hand.
The live broadcast zoomed into their hands. Alyssa’s tense expression could be seen in the background
of the frame.
Howard frowned at the scene before him.
That masked woman had played Alyssa. From where she stood, her goals should’ve been Alyssa. However, she switched directions at the last minute and headed toward Marvin.
Why was that?
Back at the studio where “Celestial Voice” was being filmed, the audience members were extremely hyped. The team selection process was highly exciting, so they cheered or booed accordingly.
After Megan confirmed that she’d joined Marvin’s team, she sat behind him in the participant’s seating
area.
Alyssa shot glances at Megan out of the corner of her eye, but Megan ignored her.
The filming lasted for hours.
During the advertisement breaks, the performers seized the chance to take a break. Megan headed to the
washroom.
She was halfway down the corridor when Alyssa blocked her way.
“Didn’t you see the messages I sent you?” Alyssa asked. She’d dragged Megan into a corner.
Eyeing Alyssa, Megan replied, “I did.”
Alyssa scowled and grabbed Megan’s collar. “Then, what did you mean by all that? Are you trying to humiliate me?”
Megan snorted and yanked Alyssa’s hand off her collar.
“I’m just picking a team as normal,” she said. “Whether it’s the style of his songs or his professionalism, I do believe that Marvin is more suitable. He’ll help me progress further in the show.”
Alyssa chuckled. “And here I thought it was something else. Turns out, you understand nothing.”
“Do you know why you lost to Megan?” She then mocked, “You never get the point. In this era, it’s a battle of marketing tactics. Did you really sign up to put your singing and composing skills to the test?

“Ferrell Entertainment invested in you, and they expect a return. It’s about commercial value, about
monetization. Got it?”
