“The so–called witnesses are all your people. Their testimony is worthless. They conspired with Callum to frame my brother–this was premeditated!” Victor shot back fiercely.
“Frame him? Ha! The fact remains–he assaulted someone. Even if you take this to court, your brother will go to prison!” Harold retorted, then turned his gaze on Evelyn. “And you, the one calling the shots here–why so quiet?”
Only then did Evelyn speak. “Fine. Tell me, what will it take for you to release my brother?”
Harold’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. This was the moment he had been waiting for.
He rose from his chair and strode toward Evelyn. Charlotte and Victor tensed, afraid he might hurt her, but Evelyn raised a hand to stop them. She stood her ground, eyes sharp and unwavering.
Harold tilted his head, smirking. “One million. Pay one million in compensation, and we’ll let it go.”
“One million? Why don’t you just rob us outright! Callum isn’t even dead!” Charlotte snapped, furious.
For their family, such a sum was impossibly huge. They could never afford it.
“Well, if you don’t have the money, there’s another way. You’re a pretty little thing. Spend one night with me, and I’ll drop the matter,” Harold said, greed flashing in his eyes as he reached out toward Evelyn’s face.
Victor saw red. He lunged forward and shoved Harold back hard. “Don’t you dare touch my sister! If you want someone, come for me instead!”
He planted himself firmly in front of Evelyn, standing like a true man should. Evelyn’s heart warmed at her brother’s protection.
“You? What are you worth?” Harold snapped in rage,
At his signal, the bodyguards rushed in and pinned Victor down.
“Let me go!” Victor struggled with all his strength.
Evelyn clenched her fists, stepped forward, and with two swift kicks sent the guards reeling, freeing her brother before they knew what had happened.
That speed… impossible!

Evelyn remained calm. “Mr. Wyndham, we were negotiating. Your people made the first move.”
“Fine. Negotiate! Let’s see how you intend to do it!” Harold snarled, already plotting his
revenge.
“Since you’ve named your terms, allow me to state mine. We’re willing to cover Callum’s medical expenses. His injuries aren’t serious. Let that be the end of it–no more trouble for either side.”
Harold burst out laughing. “Ridiculous! You think a little medical fee is enough? Your brother stole from my company and assaulted my men. That’s prison time!”
“Prison? Then let me show you something,” Evelyn said coolly.
She pulled out her phone and tapped a few commands. The conference room’s large screen flickered to life, revealing surveillance footage.
Harold froze. “What… what is this?” He turned on his subordinates.
“I–I don’t know! The cameras were destroyed-”
“I asked how she could access this screen!”
“I–I have no idea…”
“Useless!” Harold cursed, slamming his fist against the armrest.
The footage continued to play. Evelyn had already pieced it together. The video showed Callum and another worker sneaking stolen materials into Cosmo’s quarters, whispering to each other.
“This will bury him. Once we stash the goods under his bed, he’ll take the fall for theft–and he’ll rot in prison,” Callum sneered in the recording.
The audio works too?! Harold’s shock deepened.
“Cosmo really was framed! Callum set him up!” Charlotte cried, nearly in tears of relief.
Harold’s face turned ugly.
The footage rolled on. It showed Callum later provoking Cosmo, accusing him of theft. Cosmo tried to walk away, remembering his mother’s words never to cause trouble outside, but Callum and several workers cornered him, forcing a fight.
Outnumbered and hounded, Cosmo finally snapped and fought back. With his raw strength, he

easily overpowered them, pummeling Callum until someone called the police. When the authorities arrived, everyone claimed Cosmo had started the fight.
“Mr. Wyndham, you’ve seen it for yourself. First, the theft was Callum’s setup. Second, my brother acted in self–defense. With this footage, even in court, we’d win.
“Offering to pay his medical bills is already more than fair. What else could you possibly want? If you insist on dragging this out, then our family will fight you to the very end!” Her gaze was like a blade, locking onto Harold.
His fury boiled over. He slammed his palm down on the table with a resounding crack. “You insolent brat! You dare threaten me?!”
