“With your current condition, the possibility of natural conception is… Near zero.”
The smile on Xander’s face instantly froze, and he sobered up at once.
“What? Near zero? That’s impossible! Serena… She’s pregnant!”
He almost roared his words out, and his voice trembled with disbelief.
The doctor on the other end was silent for a moment, then spoke with even more caution. “Mr. McNeil, I understand how you feel. But medical test results are objective. Before your marriage, your motility was still acceptable.
“But after passing 30, especially within the past year, your indicators have plummeted dramatically. Our analysis suggests it may be related to your long–term stress, irregular lifestyle, and certain bad habits. As for your wife’s pregnancy… We cannot make any judgment about her situation.”
The call ended after that.
Xander’s phone fell to the ground with a clatter. He turned his head stiffly to look at Serena beside him, whose face had instantly gone pale and whose eyes were darting away after hearing the call.
“Serena.”
Xander’s voice was hoarse to a terrifying degree as he said, “The child in your belly… Whose is it?”
Serena’s lips quivered, but she couldn’t say a single word. She only backed away in fear.
Xander understood everything at that moment. An overwhelming wave of betrayal, humiliation, and fury engulfed him. He suddenly recalled that cold and rainy night when Mom was lying on the operating table, listening as the doctor pronounced their daughter dead and her womb was removed.
Meanwhile, he had abandoned both mother and daughter without hesitation, all because of one exaggerated phone call from Serena!
His only child! His and Mom’s child! The child was gone forever due to his indifference and betrayal! The viewers‘ comments showed up in a frenzy on the screen.

“Karma! How satisfying!”

Xander stood there as if he had been struck by lightning and froze in place.
