Samuel asked, “Why would Naomi get into a car accident? That’s because you left her on the highway for Emily!
“Where were you when she was sick and suffering? Have you ever recalled that she was your wife when you left her alone time
and again?”
Yohan felt bitterness in his mouth. He wanted to refute, yet everything Samuel had said was true. It was as if someone was
grabbing him by the neck–he couldn’t speak, and his mind went blank.
When I heard from my assistant that Yohan had stormed into the company looking for Samuel, I immediately called the security
guards and headed to the top–floor office.
“What are you doing, Yohan?” As soon as we exited the elevator, I saw Yohan grabbing Samuel by his collar, enraged.
The security guards went ahead to stop Yohan, while I stood before Samuel.
The swollen bruise near his mouth stood out on his pale face. He was tearing up, looking pitiful. My heart ached as I caressed his
cheek.
“Is this how you were raised?” I looked at Yohan calmly.
He staggered slightly when he saw the hatred I had for him in my gaze. “I got hurt too, Naomi-”
I averted my gaze and brought Samuel away. “Escort him out, security. Don’t let unrelated people into the company again.”
Yohan made Julian come for me again. Perhaps he was trying to use my motherly love for Julian to keep me around, but I was no
longer the same person I was.
“Stop coming to find me, boy. Your father and I have already divorced–I am no longer your mother,” I said.
Julian immediately turned anxious when he heard how I addressed him. “I want to eat your dark cuisines, Mommy. I want you to
tell me bedtime stories and hug me to sleep.”
“Anyone can do this, Julian. You’re just not used to having me away from you.” I turned to leave, but he tugged at the hem of my
skirt.
Julian choked, “No, Mommy. I’m really sorry now. What happened that day was just a prank–I don’t like Ms. Emily at all, I
promise this won’t happen again!
“Daddy is a liar! He said you’ll come back when you recover your memories, but you no longer want me even though you
remember me!”
He continued, “Granny told me that Mommy had a hard time when you were having me. I was being too naughty back then, I
even made you angry countless times.”

I looked down at Julian and said, “Never wait until you lose something to realize its value, Juli.”
He tearfully hugged my legs and asked, “Did I lose you already, Mommy?”
I replied, “This is the last lesson I will give you as your mother. I hope you never speak harshly to those you love or who love you.
You have to learn to respect others, and they’ll respect you in return. People leave when they’re hurt.”
Julian collapsed onto the ground and sobbed uncontrollably. He clutched the hem of my skirt tightly.
“Please give me another chance, Mommy. I’ll definitely change my bad habits–I won’t be like Daddy! Please believe in me, okay?
I’m your son-” he cried.
I helped Julian up and said, “It’s a fact that your father and I have already separated, Julian. I will never return to that house
anymore.”
He wiped his tears away and asked, “Mommy, if you don’t want Daddy, I don’t want him either. If you won’t come visit me, can I
still come visit you in the future? I promise to be good.”
“This is up to you,” I replied.
You could never teach someone through words alone, but you could do so through experience. He wouldn’t understand the
meaning without experiencing deep pain.
I only hoped that Julian could let go of his arrogance and prejudice and become a better person. I hope he would never break the
hearts of those who loved him again and would never follow his father’s path.
