Chapter 52
“Yep,” replied Megan.
Perhaps.
Megan watched the television, which was broadcasting the weather forecast.
“We have received reports predicting a storm tonight. Do take the necessary precautions and wear your
raincoats…”
Selena mumbled about how she would be suffering on the way home.
Megan grinned and suggested, “Why don’t I spare you half of my bed? That way, you don’t have to go
home.”
When they were kids, they used to sleep like that all the time.
Rolling her eyes, Selena said, “I don’t want that. If I squeeze against you and hurt any of your wounds, I’m
going to get beaten up by someone.”
Megan only smiled. She didn’t continue the conversation even though she knew Selena was referring to
Shaun.
Since the last time they spoke, Selena had said she wanted to make it up to Megan by gifting Shaun to her. However, Megan was unwilling to consider such things.
She had many goals she aspired to achieve.
When she’d headed to the courthouse with Howard six days ago, she’d left a caveat in the divorce agreement. The gist of it was that everything under Megan’s name belonged to her, and she would be
taking it away.
Howard had intended to remarry her in six months. Adding in the fact that she had pissed him off intentionally that day, he had only taken a cursory glance at the contract.
As a result, he didn’t read it in detail. Other than a few clear property ownership clauses, there was another clause regarding the assets that were going to Megan. They were the Staffords‘ businesses, which the Larsons took over.
Megan was set on taking back everything that belonged to William, although most of the people working in the field had changed.
Due to the ambiguous way the clause was worded, she knew it would be a breeze if Howard was willing to let them go. However, if he was not, they would need to negotiate.
She had always been handling that aspect, and since those businesses were unrelated to the main bulk of Larson Group’s work, she believed she would be able to purchase them at a good price.
If that didn’t work, Megan could sue for the contested issues within the contract. With that, even if she

couldn’t recover everything, she could at least regain some of it.
In that situation, she would require a huge amount of money. With Howard’s intelligence and capabilities, she would only have this one opportunity to achieve her goals.
Thus, she had to win in “Celestial Voice“!
It was a stepping stone for her, as it would get her publicity and attention. With good music and viral performances, her worth would skyrocket.
After that, her pay would reach new heights. Even if Howard wanted to stop her, Megan would have other methods to get around it. At least she had Jimmy on her team.
But would Howard really be so heartless?
Megan looked down. She remembered how guarded he’d seemed while he protected Alyssa from her.
It was impossible to say for sure, so she could only plan for the worst.
She knew that Jimmy had put everything on the line. With how early his brothers had established themselves, the power structure within Ferrell Group was highly complicated. Jimmy was young, and he encountered hurdles frequently. He was in a tough situation, too.
As Edward Ferrell, his grandfather, grew older, he fell sick frequently. The conflict between the three Ferrell brothers had reached a stalemate. If Megan and Jimmy could emerge victorious, perhaps they would be able to break through the impasse.
Jimmy would be able to gain even more ground in Ferrell Group.
Megan turned to Selena, who was switching channels on the television, remote in hand.
She asked, “Lena, could you contact the friend who had recorded the performance?”
Selena was still flicking through channels. She couldn’t find something she wanted to watch. Barely
paying attention, she agreed, “Sure. Why are you looking for her?”
Megan stared at the television while explaining softly, “I want to get that recording.”
