Chapter 61
Alyssa read the letter and frowned. Then, she checked the online platforms and laughed when she saw nothing about it.
“It’s fine. You wouldn’t understand it. This is just a test,” she said slowly, turning back to the dresses as if
nothing had happened.
Lily still looked puzzled.
For once, Alyssa took the time to explain. “If they really wanted to hold me accountable, they would have posted the letter publicly instead of sending it to me privately.”
“I’m still confused.” Lily was stumped.
“They’re waiting to see how I react. If I panic like you did, they’ll know they can come at me with outrageous demands,” Alyssa said.
“So what do we do?” Lily asked.
“We’ll wait and ignore them.” Alyssa smiled, finally selecting a gown from the row of options.
“Jimmy wouldn’t do anything to me. Now, I’m not only Howard’s woman, but I’m also a tragic, poor soul on the brink of death.” As she spoke, she put on a pitiful look.
“If Jimmy doesn’t want his brothers to bury him alive, he’ll know better than to let this turn into a public scandal.”
With that, Alyssa tossed the dress to Lily, ordered her to have it pressed, and retired to bed.
Time passed quickly, and the evening of the next day approached.
That morning, Jimmy came to pick Megan up, but Selena insisted she needed more rest. In the end, Shaun managed to persuade Selena to let her go.
As Jimmy and Megan left, Selena looked at Shaun in frustration.
“Are you just going to let Jimmy take her away?” Selena fumed.
Shaun nodded.
“But she…”
“Lena, just let it go. Push too hard, and you’ll only make things worse,” he said gently.
Selena wanted to argue but simply nodded in the end. She knew very well that all these years, Megan only had eyes for Howard. She never had any feelings for Shaun.
Shaun didn’t want to linger on the subject and changed the topic. “By the way, did you find what you were

looking for yesterday?”
“I did. But there’s a problem,” Selena said.

Helen managed to retrieve the phone by switching the casing on the old phone to a new one. She slipped
out before the NDA was signed. That way, if anything leaked later, it would technically have happened
beforehand.
At first, Selena was surprised by how easily Helen managed to retrieve the phone. After all, the phones were all kept in a desk drawer in the office, with people coming and going. Then, she realized all the phones had already been wiped clean.
These days, there are plenty of data recovery experts. However, this would depend on what methods the company used to wipe the phones and whether the expert she found would be able to recover the data.
So, Selena took the phone from Helen.
Helen hadn’t thought much of it. There were plenty of staff and audience members during the live stream, and someone was bound to smuggle a phone inside. Besides, the NDA hadn’t been signed yet, so technically it wasn’t against the rules.
As far as Helen was concerned, she knew nothing about it.
Back at the hospital, Selena asked Shaun, “Do you know any data recovery experts?”
“I’ll make some calls,” Shaun said.
Selena nodded with satisfaction.
