Chapter 239: She Likes Marcus Blackwood
Chapter 239: She Likes Marcus Blackwood
(Elena Blackwood’s POV)
In the evening, I continuously tried to contact Celeste Harrison but couldn’t reach her by phone. My messages remained unanswered, each one disappearing into digital silence.
I began to worry that something had happened to Celeste. Though I reasoned that if anything serious had occurred, the Harrison Pack would surely know about it.
Rachel Thompson approached me, her face creased with concern. “Elena, were you still unable to contact Celeste?”
I shook my head in response. The worry in Rachel’s eyes mirrored my own growing anxiety.
Rachel speculated about Celeste’s whereabouts. “Maybe she fled to other territories to avoid her arranged mating?”
She paused, frowning. “But it’s strange that Celeste wouldn’t at least check her messages.” This mention of “fleeing” triggered a thought in my mind. I quickly pulled out my phone and sent a message to Joyce Harrison.
“Rachel, go home and rest,” I said. “I’ll ask around about Celeste’s situation tomorrow.”
After Rachel left, I continued working in my Healing Chamber until seven o’clock in the evening. The familiar scent of healing herbs couldn’t calm my restless thoughts about my missing friend.
As autumn had arrived, the Northern Territory experienced significant temperature differences between day and night. The air became quite cold after dark.
Upon leaving the institute, I felt the chilly evening breeze cut through my clothes. I instinctively pulled my coat tighter around myself as I walked down the stone steps. “Miss Blackwood,” a voice called out.
I paused and looked toward a car parked nearby. The driver’s window slowly rolled down, revealing a serene, gentle face.
It was Mia Ashworth. Her barbie doll–like beauty was striking even in the dim evening light.
Mia had been waiting for me. “Would you like to have dinner with me?”

I accepted her invitation, curious about her intentions. As we drove through the territory, I gazed out at the illuminated high–rise buildings passing by like movie frames.
“I’m surprised you accepted my invitation,” Mia said, glancing at me. “Seeing me with Marcus Blackwood didn’t bother you?”
“Who Marcus spends time with is his freedom,” I replied carefully.
Mia’s eyes sparkled with interest. “Do you truly no longer have feelings for him?”
I turned to face her. “Why are you asking such things?”
Her answer caught me completely off guard. “If you don’t have feelings for him, then I’m going to pursue him.”
My heart clenched painfully, but I kept my expression neutral. “You’re interested in Marcus?”
“He’s handsome and exactly my type,” she confessed with a dreamy smile. “I particularly admire his devotion.”
She continued, her voice filled with longing. “He can love someone unconditionally, believing in and indulging them completely. Yet he’s decisive when that love ends.”
Her eyes grew distant. “I wonder if he would show me the same kind of devoted affection if he fell in love with me.”
I turned away, watching my reflection in the window. The sadness in my own eyes was unmistakable.
“Perhaps,” I replied quietly.
“Would you bless our relationship if we got together?” Mia asked directly.
Despite the pain it caused me, I managed a smile. “I would bless you if you became mates.”
Mia smiled without responding further. The silence stretched between us, heavy with unspoken emotions.
We arrived at Crimson Moon Fine Dining near the Moonhaven Shopping District. Restaurant Manager Roberts immediately recognized Mia as a regular customer.
“Miss Ashworth, welcome back,” he said warmly. “Your usual private dining chamber arrangement?”
“Yes, please,” Mia replied graciously.
As we walked toward the private chamber after exiting the Steel Ascent, I inadvertently

spotted a man standing in the corridor’s rest area. He was smoking and talking on the phone.
The man also turned his head at that moment. He removed the cigarette from his mouth and slowly exhaled a thick cloud of white smoke.
I immediately avoided making eye contact with him. It was truly unlucky to encounter Felix Xavier here.
However, something caught my attention that made me pause. The phone he was holding belonged to Celeste Harrison.
