The yacht briefly returned to a strange sort of calm, a calm where only Ryan was still suffering.
He endured the pain while watching Ted calmly remove the bullet and stop the bleeding, and the hatred in his heart grew stronger.
Ryan thought, ‘Why could he be so calm seeing me injured? Is he secretly laughing at me? Does seeing me in such a miserable state please him?”
The more his body hurt, the more those poisonous thoughts gnawed at him. And the colder his eyes grew when he looked at Ted.
Ted was doing the final disinfecting and bandaging when he felt that venomous stare burning into him. He gave a bitter smile.
He said, “If you still want to be the next head of the Wilson family, then put away your petty grudges. Being jealous of me is pointless. I told you before. I have no interest in being the head of this family.”
Ryan remained silent, but it was clear he hadn’t listened to Ted.
He thought, ‘Not interested? Are you still trying to fool me like I’m a three–year–old? Not interested? Then why did you try so hard to get close to Frank from the medical school at Shoneport University?‘
‘Not interested? Then why do you always show off your abilities in front of Grandpa? Why would you secretly investigate the transactions between the family company and the underground lab? Why would you let me threaten you without putting up a fight?‘
Ryan had long since stopped believing anything Ted said. He had already proven himself to their grandfather and won the recognition of the family.
As long as he was alive, Ted would never have a chance to rise up.
Ted tied a neat little butterfly knot to finish the bandage, didn’t even spare his stubborn brother another glance, packed up the medical kit, and stood to leave.
Noah and Ted’s mother, Sienna, rushed to Henry’s side. They helped Henry to Ryan, fussing over him and asking how he was.

He only hoped that once the Wilson family got everything they wanted, they would let him leave. He was fine with going abroad. He had truly had enough of this family.

“Do you still have any hope left for the Wilson family?” At some point, Frank had walked up beside him. Seeing the loneliness and helplessness in his eyes, Frank couldn’t quite harden his heart.

“But what can I do? You’re my friend, after all!” Frank spread his hands with a harmless smile.
But Connor had told him that even if Ted hadn’t called, Ashton and his wife would have come to the seaside tonight anyway.
The phone call from Ted was just Ashton and his team’s way of pushing things along.
It was also a chance for Ted to see his family’s true, unscrupulous colors.

Suddenly, Henry’s angry voice rang out. “Ashton, what is the meaning of this? Our family invited you with good intentions. Hurting my young grandson wasn’t enough? Do you really intend for everyone on this ship to die?”

Frank and Ted turned around and saw Ryan, who had just stopped bleeding, clutched in Connor’s hand like a chick, his face deathly pale.
Ted instinctively started to step forward.
Frank grabbed him. “Hey, don’t do anything stupid. Even if you save your dear brother now, he won’t thank you. He might even think we’re in this together!”
Ted froze mid–step. It was not a possibility, but a certainty.

Ted was no fool. Looking at Frank, he asked, “So, you came over to talk to me on purpose just now?”
“Of course! It was very effective, wasn’t it? It showed you your dear brother’s true colors right away, Frank said with a smile, his face full of smug satisfaction.
Ted admitted, “I actually saw through him a long time ago.”
“You just couldn’t bring yourself to be harsh, right?” Frank patted Ted’s shoulder. “No need to thank me. That’s what friends are for!”
Ted was finally amused by Frank’s “magnanimity.” He sighed and said guiltily, “I’m just glad you don’t blame me for being selfish.”
Frank waved his hand dismissively. “It’s understandable to be selfish. After all, they’re your family.”
Then, Frank looked Ted in the eye and said seriously, “Listen. If your family is worthy of your sacrifice and tolerance, then that’s fine. Doing anything for your family is justified. However, if your efforts are one–sided and they don’t appreciate it, I advise you to save your kindness.”
Ted calmly looked back at Frank. The look in his eyes was as kind and friendly as ever. He reached out and put an arm around his shoulder. “I get it. Thanks, buddy.”
Frank struggled at once. “Hey, hey, hey! Just talk. Why are you getting so handsy? Connor gets extremely jealous. You’re going to land me in so much trouble that I won’t be able to get out of bed.”
Ted chuckled. “Is that so? Well, sorry about that. It looks like your Connor has already seen us with our arms around each other.”
Upon hearing this, Frank looked toward Connor and, sure enough, met Connor’s narrowed and chilling gaze.
Frank quickly shook off Ted’s hand, ran to Connor’s side, and beamed. “Connor, I’m here.”
Connor ignored Frank’s antics, tightening his grip on Ryan. “Do you think you’re worthy of having Ashton deal with you personally? Your family knows exactly what you’ve done. Cut the act.”
Dragging the wailing Ryan two steps forward, Connor stared at Henry’s wrinkled face. “Mr. Henry Wilson, Ashton came personally because he doesn’t want to make a scene. If you know what’s good for you, hand over the ledgers you’re hiding.”
