Chapter6
The moment I saw Richard Coleman, Grandpa’s old friend who had cared for me since childhood, tears spilled uncontrollably down my face.
William Ford stepped in front of Olivia Scott, trying to act casual.
“Well, well, Mr. Coleman. What brings you here?”
But Richard hadn’t come alone. A team of men followed at his heels, swiftly restraining both William and Olivia. Medics rushed to my side, tending to my injuries.
His eyes glistened with grief as he looked at me, the weight of his sorrow etched into every line of his face.
“Girl, why didn’t you tell me you were suffering like this? I’d have beaten your tormentors to death myself. If my men hadn’t stumbled across a livestream of you being attacked, I still wouldn’t know.”
He drew in a deep, ragged breath. “Your grandfather asked me long ago to treat you as if you were my own family. Now, when I see him again, how will I explain this?”
Grandpa… even in his final days, he had entrusted me to another.
My heart cracked. I sobbed until I couldn’t breathe.
“Mr. Coleman… Grandpa is gone. I didn’t make it in time to see him one last time.”
His hand patted mine with steady reassurance. “Don’t you worry, child. I will see justice done for you.”
Olivia sneered, her tone full of contempt.
“And who exactly are you, old man? Another knight in shining armor for the mistress? I already drove one old fool to his grave, are you looking to follow?”
Richard slammed his cane against the floor with a thunderous crack. His bodyguards surged forward, pinning Olivia in place.
Slap after slap rained across her face until it swelled red and grotesque.
“You really don’t know your place, do you? You’re nothing but a secretary playing at being queen. And you dare provoke Emily’s grandfather?” His voice hardened. “Teach her a lesson she won’t forget.”
William rushed forward, his face twisted with panic. “Mr. Coleman, Olivia is mine. You may be an elder, but that doesn’t give you the right to lay hands on her.”
His voice dropped into a cold sneer.
“You’re nothing more than a retired director. Sterling Corporation’s power rests in my hands now. Release Olivia while you still can.”
Richard laughed, unbothered.
“In your hands? The only person whose shares surpass mine is your precious Olivia. No one else in Sterling has the right to challenge me.”
a document on his tablet, flashing it before the crowd.
“William Ford, you are hereby dismissed. Assaulting a company director means both you and Olivia Scott are terminated effective immediately.”
His cane struck the floor again. “You don’t even understand the difference between a shareholder and a CEO. How did you orm your way into Sterling in the first place?”
On the stretcher, my lips trembled. I couldn’t bring myself to confess, William had only risen so high because I had lifted him step by step, believing he would stand by me.
Richard’s gaze cut into him like ice.

“You senile old man… what nonsense are you spouting? I’m William’s wife!” Her voice wavered despite her defiance.
Richard only smirked. He opened his phone, projecting images to the public feed, the wedding portraits of William and me from five years ago, and even a recording of us registering for our marriage certificate at the City Hall.
Gasps rose from the crowd as the truth spread like wildfire online.
“Didn’t Olivia claim her certificate was the real one? Didn’t the staff even verify it?”
Security dragged that so–called staffer back, shoving her to her knees before everyone.
“She wasn’t staff at all,” Richard declared. “Just an actress they paid to play a role.”
The woman pointed a shaking finger at Olivia.
“She made me do it! She paid me, told me all I had to do was say what she wanted. I don’t know anything else!”
Olivia’s eyes turned venomous as daggers.
“I gave you fifty thousand, and you betray me this quickly?”
