Chapter 346
Brandon’s simple “Good luck” instantly filled Connor with a fighting spirit.

If he failed to catch up to Briar, or worse, lost track of her, he’d never live it down. This group would laugh him to death.
After Briar left the residential compound, she got into an inconspicuous black car parked on the side of the road.
The driver was none other than Ian.
Before Briar could even fasten her seatbelt, Ian slammed on the gas, sending the car flying forward at top speed.
Briar said, “Relax. No one is behind us.”
Ian was still worried. “I don’t care if anyone’s following us. We need to leave now. Briar, don’t you know how cunning your husband is?”
Briar raised an eyebrow. “No matter how cunning he is, he’s still my husband.”
Ian was speechless. She had a point. He had no comeback.
“Let’s get to business. Are the documents translated?” Briar asked.
Ian nodded, pulled a few sheets of A4 paper from his inside pocket, and handed them to Briar. “Of course they are! Don’t you know who I am?”
Briar made no comment, took the papers, and began to read through them.
A few seconds later, Briar’s casual expression turned serious, then to disbelief. She finished reading the four pages within a few minutes.
But Briar remained stunned for a long while.
“Hey! Briar? Are you alright?” Seeing her dazed expression, Ian waved a hand in front of her eyes.
He thought, ‘Is she scared stupid by what she read? The content is shocking, but not that shocking, right?‘
The truth about Ashton’s background was surprising, sure. But it wasn’t that shocking.
Briar blinked, the bitterness in her eyes fading. “I’m fine.”
Ian was still worried. “Briar, the news that Ashton isn’t part of the Wade family has been out for a while. For Griffin to silently accept it, it must mean Ashton’s background is anything but simple! You…”
He wanted to ask why it had scared her so badly.
Briar forced a smile. “You don’t understand.”

Ian was unconvinced. “How could I not understand? Briar, you’re just worried that if Ashton’s true background is revealed, it will hinder your revenge, right?”
Briar glanced at lan. “It seems you’re panicking about this too, since you’ve started looking into the forces
involved.”
Ian turned his head back, focusing on the road as he drove. “Don’t get sentimental. I only did it because i knew you’d worry. So I dug a bit before coming to pick you up”
“You looked into it? What did you find?” Briar asked, her voice tinged with apprehension.
Ian broke into a wide grin. “What I found… is really good.”
Briar was confused. “What do you mean, ‘really good“?”
Ian chuckled and handed Briar the iPad he was using. “I can’t really explain it in a few words. Briar, you should see for yourself.”
Briar took the iPad skeptically. She opened it to the webpage Ian had been browsing, and then her hand froze.
She exclaimed, “Is this… the official government website for Dasmieca? You actually dared to hack the network of Dasmieca’s leaders?”
Ian cleared his throat, looking a little uncomfortable. “Well… I was on a roll, and my brain got ahead of me. Next thing I knew, I had a gun pressed to my forehead less than fifteen minutes later.”
Briar was stunned. “You… you had a gun held to your head and got a warning?”
As Ian talked about it, he sounded utterly frustrated. “Yeah! No exaggeration. Point–blank, muzzle right against my forehead. Briar, you have no idea how thrilling that felt.”
“What did they say to you?” Briar asked, a strange and unsettling feeling rising as she saw Ian’s suddenly excited expression.
They couldn’t have given him a warning and then followed it up with encouragement.
Ian chuckled slyly before looking at Briar earnestly. “Briar, I actually think your father–in–law is a great guy, really.”
Briar replied, “They haven’t even acknowledged each other as father and son. No matter how great he is, I don’t care.”
“Fine.” Ian readily changed his tack. “But that man knows everything we’ve done, crystal clear. Do you really think we can keep acting as recklessly as before?”
Ian felt a little embarrassed for Briar. They’d been running wild for so long, thinking everything they did was perfectly seamless.
As it turned out, they suddenly discovered that their every move was under someone else’s control. The mere thought of it was horrifying.

Luckily, they came to Dasmieca and hadn’t caused too much bloodshed. Otherwise, he feared they would go to sleep one day and never wake up.
“Why not?” Briar was much calmer than lan. “Since no one has come after us yet, it means what we’re doing is still within that person’s acceptable limits.”
If they were still within those limits, then she’d keep on pushing. And when the day came that she finally crossed the line, then she’d rein herself in.
Ian gave Briar a thumbs–up. “Briar, I’m impressed.”
“So, we can make a bigger scene now, right? After all, someone’s always got our back,” Ian said, eager to try.
He and Brandon didn’t get a chance to act on the Wilson family’s yacht, and he was itching for some action.
Briar put away her iPad. “Of course. Tonight, it’s just the two of us. We’ll go all out.”
Ian chuckled. “Alright! Now that you’ve said that, I’m relieved.”
Tonight, the homes of the first and second branches of the Wade family were where Ian could go all out.
The first and second branches only seemed to target Ashton, and besides Emily, no one else appeared to go after Briar.
But upon closer reflection, how could a brainless woman like Emily interfere so precisely, time and again?
Emily was merely a pawn used by the first and second branches to test the waters.
The people with truly malicious intent were those hiding behind Emily.
Tonight, Briar was going to settle the score with all of them.
The drive was smooth as they reached the villa complex where the first and second branches lived. Their car was not registered, so they couldn’t enter.
Not being able to enter was fine, as they did not want to go in openly and attract unnecessary attention. After all, they were there to cause trouble.
But they could sneak in.
They skillfully scaled the wall, bypassed several security cameras, and prepared to split up to handle each side separately.
Before they split up, Briar paused, still uneasy. She earnestly warned, “Be careful. Don’t kill anyone. Otherwise, he will really want to have a ‘talk‘ with us.”
“Don’t worry. I promise they won’t die just yet,” Ian said, making an “OK” gesture.
After all, Griffin was still inside. They had to give him that much face.
