Chapter 347
:
The villas of Sean and Justin were right next to each other. Briar first hacked into and disabled the surveillance system for both houses before splitting up with Ian. One went left, the other right, both leaping swiftly over the walls into the villas.
It was 3:30 am, the hour when the human body was at its weakest.
With the surveillance already overridden, unless someone came out to check in person, no one would notice that every single camera in the villa had been tampered with..
Justin’s house was silent. Even the bodyguards had found corners to sneak off and nap in.
Wearing black gloves, Briar brazenly walked right through the front door.
The first floor was empty, so she didn’t linger and headed straight for the staircase.
On the second floor, a night light illuminated the long hallway. She could see that only two rooms along the corridor had their doors closed.
The other rooms with open doors were silent and empty. It seemed the second floor was the private space for Justin and his family.
Briar tiptoed, first checking the rooms with open doors. Once she confirmed it was safe, she approached the first closed door.
With a flick of her wrist, a thin piece of wire appeared in her hand. She slipped it into the keyhole, jiggled it left and right, and with a quiet click, the lock gave way.
After glancing around to make sure no one had noticed, she pushed the door open.
She was in luck. It was Justin’s study.
Briar gently closed the door and carefully searched the study. She found several listening devices with glowing red dots, and she smiled.
Justin was more cautious than she had expected.
He was so paranoid. Even his own study was wired.
Rather than removing the listening devices, Briar simply placed a signal jammer on the desk to block them, then began rifling through the room with zero hesitation.
Then, Briar began to ransack the place.
Her movements were rough, and she had no intention of putting things back after her search.
Ten minutes later, Briar stood before a wall cabinet with her hands on her hips. “Strange. How can I not find anything in Justin’s study?”

Chapter 347
Justin wouldn’t have installed listening devices in his study unless it contained something important. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so cautious.
Perhaps she was on the wrong track.
After wasting over ten minutes, Briar searched the study one last time, refusing to give up, and finally pinned her last hope on the computer on the desk.
She cracked the computer’s password and quickly searched through it. Just as she suspected, the computer was empty of anything useful, too.
“Old bastard!” Briar cursed.
After clearing the entire search history, Briar closed her laptop and stormed out of the study.
Now, the only room left was the one with the closed door. It must be the bedroom of Justin and his wife.
Briar picked the lock using the same method.
There was no night light on in the room, and only two faint breaths could be heard.
After her eyes adjusted to the darkness, Briar felt her way along the wall and soon stood before the bed.
Looking down at the two vague shapes lying there, a glint of cold light flashed in her eyes.
A few minutes later, Briar left the room and gently closed the door. Just as she was about to turn, she heard footsteps from the top of the stairs.
Briar tensed and immediately slipped into the room next to the bedroom.
“Maybe you’re just imagining things. At this hour, what could have happened? Mr. Wade is probably fast asleep.”
“I just can’t shake the feeling that something’s wrong. I’d rather check than sit around worrying.”
The two voices came closer, and soon the men were at the bedroom door, unlocking it and stepping inside.
Briar raised an eyebrow. It seemed the bodyguards Justin hired weren’t completely useless after all.
Once the two men had entered the room, she slipped out of hiding. But rather than going down the stairs, she headed to the very end of the hallway, opened the only window there, and jumped out from the second floor.
Barely a few seconds after she hit the ground, frantic shouts rang out from inside the bedroom.
“Quick! Get help! Something’s happened to Mr. Wade!”
“You stay here and keep watch. I’ll go get the others.”
Soon, the entire villa was ablaze with light, chaotic footsteps, and shouting filling the air.

Chapter 347
Briar had already scaled the courtyard wall and left.
:
She found a hidden spot and waited for lan to come out.
Two minutes later, he came sprinting over, panting heavily,
They made eye contact and retreated in silence.
Once they were safely back in the car, lan burst out laughing. “That was so satisfying!”
Briar was smiling too. “You didn’t hurt him too badly, did you?”

Ian waved his hand. “Of course not! You know how gentle I was. What about you? You didn’t kill Justin with a single needle, did you?”
Briar kept smiling, her tone tinged with regret. “I didn’t kill him…”
Hearing the unspoken meaning in Briar’s words, Ian’s eyebrow twitched. He asked tentatively, “Briar, you didn’t… paralyze him, did you?”
Remembering what had happened to Len, Ian couldn’t help but feel nervous for Justin.
Briar nodded innocently. “That’s right.”
He said, “Briar, you told me to go easy and not hurt him badly, but then you went and paralyzed him.”
Briar replied defiantly, “It’s not like I killed him, right?”
“Being half–paralyzed is practically worse than death,” Ian muttered under his breath.
He sighed helplessly. “Briar, you only get away with this because you have powerful backup.”
Briar corrected Ian. “No. Justin should thank the fact that I have someone backing me. Otherwise, he’d already be a corpse growing cold.”
Shortly after driving out of the villa community, they saw Connor leaning against his car door, smoking with one hand and waving at them with the other.
Briar and lan were stunned.
“Good evening. Or should I say good morning!” Connor greeted them cheerfully as they stopped the car.
Briar rubbed her forehead. “Did Ashton send you to follow us?”
“Yes.” Connor nodded. “He sent me to protect you. I was afraid of getting in your way, so I didn’t follow you inside.”
Under lan’s suspicious, questioning gaze, Briar pulled out her phone and called Ashton.
The call was answered quickly, and Ashton’s pleasant and charming voice came through. “Honey.”

Chapter 347
Briar rubbed her temples. “Why are you up so early?” she asked wearily,
Ashton replied in a deadpan voice, “I can’t sleep when you’re not here.”
Briar questioned, “So, you woke up as soon as I left? Were you pretending to be asleep?”
Although it was a question, her tone was certain.
He pretended to be asleep to trick her.
Ashton feigned innocence. “Honey, you were still so full of energy. How could I have been fast asleep?”
In other words, if she wasn’t completely worn out, so was he.
Sensing that Briar was getting angry, Ashton quickly tried to placate her. “Honey, we’ll just have to try harder next time. I’ll let you completely drain me, alright?”
Briar was lost for words.
Though they were parked on the side of the road, Briar felt as if a car had just run over her face.
