Perhaps Briar’s calm acceptance was so unexpected that she blinked innocently when she realized all eyes were on her
“Why is everyone staring at me like this?” she asked.
Louie, who was closest to Briar, voiced the question on everyone’s mind. “Briar, is there anything you’d like to add to the plan?”
Louie was being tactful. What he really wanted to ask was: “Do you doubt our abilities? Why do you look so reluctant?”
Briar smiled. “Not at all. I just think all this discussion is unnecessary.”
Gideon asked kindly, “Then what do you suggest?”
Briar kept smiling. “Anyway, I’m going to kill those people to avenge my mother and Mrs. McInnes. They all know now, so there’s no point in hiding it.”
Ashton chimed in, “Honey, are you saying… we take them away and bury them?”
Gideon glared at Ashton for fanning the flames. “Bury them? There’s too much evidence, and it’s risky and has its downsides.”
“Exactly.” Briar nodded. “So, my suggestion is to send them abroad and find a nice plot of land to bury them.”
It was risky to bury them in the country, but what if they were taken abroad?
There were countless uninhabited islands abroad. They could just buy one to serve as a graveyard for those people. That would already be a great honor for those people.
The private room fell silent when Briar said her suggestion.
It was especially true for Griffin. Watching Briar speak so calmly about murder and burial, he broke out in a cold sweat, even though he had long known she wouldn’t let those people off easily.
Ashton was the first to agree. He clapped his hands to get everyone’s attention. “I think my wife’s proposal is excellent. What do you all think?”
Then, everyone watched as Ashton pulled the pistol tucked into his waistband and placed it on the table.
His posture made it clear: disagreeing meant making an enemy of me, Ashton Wade.
It wasn’t a request for their opinions but a clear threat-“Just try and oppose me!”
Louie and Kameron glanced at each other and shrugged in unison, indicating they had no objections.
They were paid to do a job. As long as they ensured the safety of Briar and Ashton, everything else was none of their business.

Gideon and Thiago exchanged a look. “Thiago,” Gideon began, “I hear you have a bottle of fine wine stored here?”
“That’s right, sir. It’s still early. Why don’t you do me the honor of tasting it? Let’s see if this fine wine, which cost me 3 million dollars at auction, is as good as they say.”
Thiago, being astute, knew Gideon was looking for an excuse to leave and pretend he hadn’t heard a thing.
He immediately stood up with a smile and made an inviting gesture toward Gideon.
A curious look appeared on Gideon’s face. “Is that so? Then I must take this opportunity to taste it.”
Then, Gideon and Thiago, the two highest–ranking officials present, walked out of the private room arm in
arm.
Griffin was at a loss.
“They are leaving. Why aren’t they taking me with them? What excuse can I use to leave now?‘ thought Griffin.
Just then, Ashton thoughtfully spoke up, “Grandpa, I heard Mom and Dad are returning to the family home for dinner tonight?”
The “Mom and Dad” Ashton mentioned were Russell Wade and Maurene Wade. Ashton had not yet been acknowledged by the McInnes family, so he was still their son in name.
Griffin nodded. “That’s right. Look at me, getting old and always forgetting things.”
Ignoring that it was already dinnertime and would take over an hour to get from the hotel to the family home, Griffin stood up and walked toward the door.
“You young people go ahead and eat. I won’t keep you company. I’m off now! No need to see me out,” said Griffin.
Then, he ran off without looking back.
Griffin ran away so fast it was hard to believe he was a sickly, decrepit man.
A minute later, everyone unimportant had left the private room, leaving only Briar, Ashton, Brandon, Ian, Louie, and Kameron.
No one spoke first. They stared at each other for a long while before someone coughed to break the awkward silence.
“Well, why don’t we talk while we eat?” said Ian, who was pushed forward by Brandon to break the ice.
Brandon immediately chimed in with a smile, saying, “That’s right. Don’t be polite. The food will get cold if we don’t eat it. What a waste that would be!”
So, the six of them picked up their forks and talked as they ate.
This time, their topic of conversation was far more bloody and violent than before.

Ian was already getting fired up. “The plan is set. Let’s discuss how to make our move. I can’t wait any longer.
“The business of robbing and murdering… Well, the good deed of helping people is best done sooner rather than later, thought Ian.
Kameron looked at Ian. “What? Haven’t you had enough action lately, following Briar?”
Ian glanced at Briar. Upon seeing that she was busy wrestling with a large prawn and wasn’t paying them any attention, he whispered to Kameron and Louie.
“Kameron, Louie, you have no idea. Ever since we returned to Dasmieca, Briar has been pulling her punches every time she fights. She’s so restrained. I bet she’s frustrated.
“If she could let loose, do you think those guys would even stand a chance against her?”
Kameron and Louie looked at each other and shook their heads. “It’s just those guys left. If you don’t count the bodyguards they hired, it seems like there isn’t enough to go around!”
Ian slapped his thigh, saying, “Exactly! There are too few of them, not enough to go around. We need to hurry and get our fill of the action before Briar goes on a rampage, or there’ll be none left for us.”
Upon seeing Ian already rubbing his hands together in excitement, what else could Kameron and Louie say?
They could only pat Ian’s shoulder and console him, “Forget it. We’ll never get the first shot. Briar’s man won’t let you get there first.”
The husband followed his wife’s lead. How could Ashton possibly stand by and watch while Ian and Briar fight side–by–side?
Ian might just become part of the background with the others, only responsible for cleaning up the bodies afterward.
Ian said, “No… Seriously?”
Ashton’s voice chimed in, “Why not? I hired you to protect Briar. Your job is to keep her safe at all times. As for everything else…”
Meeting Ian’s expectant gaze, Ashton smiled and said, “Just leave that to us.”
Ian said, “Wait, Ashton. Let’s make a deal. Since my job is to protect Briar, wouldn’t she be even safer if I took everyone down for her?”
