Chapter 8
The director looked at me in terror.
“Please, no! You’re pushing me into a dead end!”
The young doctor kowtowed frantically until her head was bleeding.
“I was wrong! Ms. Sterling, I really know I was wrong! Please forgive me! I have elderly parents and young children to support-if I’m ruined, my whole family dies!”
I sneered at her.
“If you really cared about your family, you wouldn’t have dared to do what you did while wearing that white coat!”
“Drag her away. Same treatment as Clara’s sister.”
Soon both women were hauled off.
Clara panicked, pounding Adrian’s chest.
“That’s my sister! You have to save her!”
Adrian irritably shook off her hands.
“What sister? She disrespected my wife. She got what she deserved.”
Clara collapsed on the floor, looking at Adrian with complete despair.
‘Adrian, don’t forget your promise! I’m still carrying your child!”
Adrian stood over her with his hands behind his back, looking down coldly.
‘Once this kid’s born, you’ll be useless to me. I’ll adopt him under my wife’s name. Just stay quiet and obey.”
Clara went crazy, scrambling up from the floor to attack him.
‘Adrian, you’re HEARTLESS! What do you take me for?”
Before she could hit him-CRACK. Adrian backhanded her.
Clara staggered and fell, blood trickling from her mouth.
She clutched her belly, looking at Adrian with a pale face.
“My stomach-Adrian, it hurts so bad! Get me to a doctor, quick!”
“What doctor? You’re just faking it. You think you can threaten me with that belly? Dream on.”
Clara gripped her stomach tightly, cold sweat beading on her forehead as she desperately grabbed Adrian’s hand.
“My baby-get me to a doctor! You don’t want anything to happen to the child, do you?”
Adrian stared at her writhing in pain, then kicked her hand away.
“Get off me! Stop playing victim. I’m never coming back to you.”
Then Adrian turned to me with fake devotion.
‘Honey, believe me-I’ve cut all ties with her. From now on, you’re the only one in my heart.”
Looking at Adrian’s fake face made me nauseous. The bleeding between my legs had stopped.
Theo whispered after taking a call:
‘Ms. Sterling, New York’s best obstetrician is on the way. Five minutes out.”
I nodded.
Adrian tried to approach me, but Clara grabbed his leg desperately.
‘Adrian, if my baby dies, you’ll have NOTHING! Selena’s baby is already gone-lose mine and you’re finished!”
Adrian hesitated, looking at me.
Honey, she is carrying a boy after all. Maybe we should let a doctor check on her?”
let out a light laugh.
You might not know-Clara had all the maternity doctors removed from this hospital.”
