The entire room instantly fell silent. Melody could clearly hear her own heart suddenly racing.
She looked at him in disbelief. “What did you say?”
Landon spoke flatly. “Starting now, you’re my new girlfriend.”
Even Elodie and Lucas were frozen in shock, but Landon showed no reaction and simply sat back down.
The room remained strangely quiet. After speaking. Landon just drank his beer in silence. Elodie and Lucas exchanged a look, and the two of them started singing again to break the tension.
Only Melody’s heart wouldn’t stop pounding. She thought she must have been hearing things. After what felt like an eternity, she turned to see that Landon had passed out drunk.

Vith no other choice, Melody helped Landon up to the room to rest, taking care of him the entire night.

Landon sat casually on the bed. “I’m not good at comforting girls, and I don’t like doing it. If you’re with me, don’t get jealous or throw fits. Don’t even think about trying to control me. I don’t report my whereabouts to my girlfriends. And last thing: when we break up, we make it a clean break. No drama.”
On the very first day of their relationship, he was already warning her not to be clingy after they broke up.
Melody’s nervous, passionate heart felt like it had been doused with a bucket of ice water.
She finally realized that even if they were really together, she was no different from his countless ex-girlfriends-someone who could be casually discarded.
This relationship, which was so incredibly important and hard-won for her, was something Landon wasn’t going to take seriously at all.
“If you can accept that, then we’re officially together.”
After he said it, even he felt it was strange. He’d never bothered with all this before. If he liked how a girl looked, he’d say yes. When he got annoyed later, he’d just dump her.
He’d never laid down the law with someone beforehand, as if he were afraid of her getting hurt later.
Maybe it was because she looked so innocent, and she was Elodie’s friend, that he felt compelled to say a little more.
After speaking, he glanced at his watch, remembering he had an important class. Without waiting for Melody’s reaction, he stood up, grabbed his jacket, and left.
