Chapter 23
Hearing that voice he had longed for day and night, Landon froze. He could hardly believe his ears.
I’m very happy to be standing on this stage today as the outstanding graduate representative. Walking into the school auditorium again after two years, seeing so many familiar faces, to be honest, I’m really quite moved.”
The Melody who used to blush if he got even a little too close could now stand calmly on a stage in front of thousands and make a joke.
Landon felt as if he were in an unreal, beautiful dream. Melody, she was really back.
andon slowly turned around, his gaze almost obsessive as it locked onto the figure on the podium.
After two years, Melody’s hair had grown longer, her skin was no longer as deathly pale, and her figure wasn’t as shockingly thin.
Today’s Melody had filled out a bit, but she looked much healthier. Her features were also more striking and radiant than they were two years ago.
She had always been beautiful-a gentle, subtle kind of beauty, but it was always buried under self-doubt and timidity.
But the Melody of now looked so confident and poised, like a dusty pearl that had finally been polished to reveal its dazzling brilliance.
Looking at this Melody, Landon’s eyes held an undeniable emotion, but more than that, he was genuinely happy for her.
Melody’s excellence never needed to be proven to anyone. She was more than a match for anybody.
nd so Landon stood there, at the end of the main aisle, and quietly watched Melody’s entire speech.
n these two years, Landon had never for a moment forgotten her. Although they couldn’t see each other, his belated love and longing had grown wildly, like ines in spring.
His love had been hard-won, but it was all the more fierce for it. The memories of that one month with Melody had become the spiritual sustenance that had omforted him for the past two years.
eth was right. The famously promiscuous golden boy was, indeed, capable of deep affection.
Now, seeing Melody standing right in front of him in the flesh, Landon could barely contain himself.
n the next instant, a thought formed in his mind: he was going to win her back.
o matter how difficult it was, he would earn her forgiveness.
ver since Melody left for Sorbonne University in France two years ago, she had blocked him on all platforms.
andon had tried using new numbers to add her, but it was as if she always knew it was him. Every time, he was met with another block and delete.
Helpless, Landon had to turn to Elodie, hoping to get some updates on Melody from her.
t first, sticking to the principle of never betraying her best friend, Elodie refused to give Landon any information.
ut later, as Landon asked her more and more, and he truly seemed to be a changed man-no longer surrounded by countless girls, often drinking alone late at ight.
fter all, the bond of family was still there, and Landon had always been good to her.
o, after much consideration, Elodie, feeling sorry for him, secretly betrayed Melody and gave Landon a few updates.
or the past two years, unable to contact Melody directly, Landon had developed the habit of writing letters and sending them across the ocean.
Every month, he would write a long, elaborate letter and mail it to Melody’s university.
lthough he had no idea if she ever read them, he continued this ritual every month without fail.
As if to tell her of his unwavering devotion and deep love.
