After two years apart, Elodie couldn’t help but stare at Melody, lost in thought.
“Mel. I feel like you’ve changed so much in these two years.”
Melody was currently putting some vegetables into the hot pot. Hearing Elodie’s words, she smiled. “Really?”
“Yeah, Mel, you look even better in person than you do in videos! After two years, you’ve gotten so much more beautiful!”
And you’re so much more confident than you used to be. You’ve become so charming. If I were a guy, I would definitely be chasing after you.”
Melody’s smile deepened, taking Elodie’s words as a joke.
“Mel, two years ago, I thought it was such a shame that someone as amazing as you lacked confidence. Now, seeing you so confident and brave, I’m genuinely happy for you from the bottom of my heart. You’ll always be the best in my eyes!”
Hearing Elodie’s words, Melody looked at her with bright eyes and said seriously, “Elodie, thank you. For all these years, thank you for being by my side.”
Melody’s sudden seriousness made Elodie a bit uncomfortable. She waved her hand. “Oh, don’t be so formal and mushy, I’m not used to it. We’re best friends, no need for thank yous.”
felody smiled and didn’t reply.
he had long grown accustomed to being the listener in her friendship with Elodie. More often than not, Elodie would excitedly share all sorts of things, big and mall, from her life.
Towards the end of the meal, Elodie suddenly brought up the topic they had both avoided for the past two years.
Mel, do you still like Landon?”
Hearing this question, Melody’s hand immediately trembled, and the fish ball she had just picked up fell back into her bowl.
Does she still like Landon?
Even Melody herself didn’t know the answer to that question.

uring dinner, Elodie had ordered a few cans of beer, most of which she had drunk herself. Now, a suspicious blush had risen on her face.

I told him he was being ridiculous, that he didn’t deserve you, and that I was so disappointed in him. Oh my god, when I think about it now, I can’t believe I

The main thing is, I found out later that I had misunderstood him.”
Nothing ever happened between him and Leah. It was all her, pestering him. Landon had already made things clear with her. I heard from Lucas that Landon ven made Leah cry.”
And that Skylar girl-I’ve never really liked her, ever since we were kids. I just thought Landon liked her, so I never said anything about it.”
But Lucas told me that Landon yelled at Skylar, too, that day. He told her he had never liked her, that he avoided her because he genuinely disliked her, not because of some deep, unrequited love she had imagined.”
Oh my god, Landon can be a bit laid-back, but he’s never been one to disrespect people to their faces like that, especially not two girls. It means they really crossed a line. I found out later it was because they were badmouthing you in front of him, and he couldn’t take it anymore.”
Mel, in all these years, I’ve rarely seen Landon care about anyone. Besides his parents, it’s really just been you.”
