Chapter 7 Whoever Backs Out Is a Dog
Becky sat cross-legged on the bed, scrolling through rental listings on her phone.
She and Xavier were going to get divorced. She needed to find a place before moving out.
Someone knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Becky said casually.
Xavier walked in and saw Becky frowning at her screen.
He stepped closer. “Are you… okay?”
Becky looked up and scowled when she saw it was him. “Okay about what? What are you even asking?”
“The car accident,” he said.
Becky rolled her eyes. “So now you believe me? You’re asking me about it now? Too late! Late concern is worse than a dog’s. I don’t need it!”
Xavier’s face darkened. “I’m not being sentimental. I’m just checking. I didn’t know you were in an accident.”
“Yeah, you were out shopping with your crush, picking out million-dollar handbags. How could you possibly know I was in an accident?”
“Alright, enough with the sarcasm.”
“Why shouldn’t I be sarcastic? We’re still
Moore girl. Did you ever stop to think…ed, you know. You used our money to buy a purse for that
how I’d feel?”
For some reason, Xavier felt oddly relieved. This was the Becky he knew.
So her recent behavior had been an act.
She was mad because he didn’t answer her call during the accident.
She was throwing a tantrum.
That explained everything.
“Becky, I earned that money. How I use it is my business.”
“Ha!”
Becky laughed several times in a row.
“Xavier, thank god I don’t like you. Otherwise, you’d have killed me from sheer rage. A guy like you shouldn’t even get married. Stay single forever.”
See? A woman who doesn’t earn her own money gets trampled on.

A perfect example.
Xavier sneered. “You’ve got some nerve. Do I need to remind you why we even got married in the first place?”
She’s lucky she didn’t like him?
How could she even say that?
Becky was furious.
She didn’t even do it, but she still had to carry the blame.
“I was blind, brain-dead, and had pig fat in my skull back then. But I’m fully awake now.”
Xavier’s anger surged. His eyes turned ice cold.
“Let’s see if you can stick to that. Don’t back out later.”
Becky lifted her chin with pride. “Whoever backs out is a dog.”

Xavier stormed into the other room and started pacing.
He was that mad.
Just then, Kevin called. “Mr. Xavier, there’s a problem with the overseas project. They need you there in person.”
Xavier rubbed his temple. “Fine. Set it up.”
Kevin could tell he was in a terrible mood. He couldn’t help but ask, “Who upset you?”
Xavier snapped, “Too many questions.”
And hung up.
On the other end, Kevin curled his lip.
He was sure the one who pissed him off was Becky.
Xavier didn’t come home for several days. Becky finally asked one of the maids, “Where’s Xavier? Does he always disappear for days like this?”
“Sir’s on a business trip. He went overseas.”
“Oh.”
Becky didn’t think much of it.
The maid went on, “Ms. Becky, Mr. Xavier may seem cold sometimes, but he’s reliable. Ever since you two got married, he’s come home every night – except for this trip.”
“Oh.”

Becky thought about it. That did seem true.
He’d never stayed out all night. Even though they had separate bedrooms – he always came home.

The maid added, “Mr. Xavier and that Yulia girl? That’s old news. You’re his wife now, and his future. We’re all on your side.”
“You don’t have to be that loyal.”
The maid blinked, confused by what she meant.
Becky didn’t explain. She just went upstairs and changed her clothes.
Come to think of it, for someone who grew up in the Bolton family, the original Becky sure didn’t own much. The wardrobe barely had anything decent. Just two handbags. One necklace.
All of it seemed to be birthday gifts from Xavier.
Back then, he hadn’t realized her ulterior motives. He treated her like a little sister and gave her gifts every birthday.
No wonder she fell so hard.
Becky crossed her arms and gave them a shake, then called Sharon. “Let’s go shopping.”
Sharon snorted. “Not interested. Too boring.”
There was a reason Sharon didn’t want to shop with her.
Ever since Becky got married, she never bought anything. Or more accurately, she wanted Sharon to pay for everything.
Sharon paid for lunch. Sharon bought the milk tea. Sharon even bought her sausages.
Whenever she urged Becky to buy herself something, Becky would say, “Xavier works hard. I can’t spend his money.”
Sharon had rolled her eyes so hard they nearly got stuck.
Xavier had a brilliant business mind. He built Glory Corp in two years and hit the top of Dracovia’s rich list in three.
He was now wealthier than his dad Henry. Money poured into his accounts by the second. Sharon couldn’t even fathom how rich he was.
And yet Becky was trying to save money for him.
Completely brainless.
But Becky had been stubborn. She wouldn’t listen.

She insisted on being Xavier’s thrifty little wife.

Chapter 7 Whoever Backs Out Is a Dog
Becky remembered all that now and rubbed her nose. She was speechless.
“Relax. Today’s on me. Get out here.”
Sharon said, “Alright. Last chance.”
Finished
When Sharon followed Becky into a high-end boutique, she was stunned.
Becky pointed decisively. “This one, that one, and those over there. Get them all in my size.”
Ten minutes later, Becky said, “Not this one. I’ll take the rest. Wrap them up.”
She swiped the card with flair and walked out carrying bags.
Sharon finally closed her gaping mouth and chased after her.
“Becky, are you okay? You’re not trying to save Xavier’s money anymore?”
Becky gave her a sunny smile.
“Only an idiot would save money for that stingy bastard. I’m great, don’t worry. Let’s go. I remember you liked that store down the block. We’re going in. We’re gonna max out Xavier’s card!”
While Xavier was deep in a meeting with foreign investors, his phone kept vibrating.
His expression turned cold. He picked it up and glanced at the screen.
All notifications.
Transaction alerts.
He paused.
Ever since giving Becky that secondary card, he’d never once gotten a notification.
This was the first time.
What the hell was going on with that woman?
It wasn’t that he cared about the money.
It just felt… strange.
Becky had been acting really strange lately. Like she’d become a completely different person.
Kevin noticed his boss spacing out and had to remind him, “Mr. Xavier.”
Xavier snapped back, put his phone on silent, and went back to the meeting.
Becky and Sharon spent the whole day on a shopping spree, grinning like maniacs.
Becky had never experienced the thrill of spending without limits. She felt amazing.
She didn’t know how much she’d charged to Xavier’s card. She didn’t care.
Because she had no plans to stop.
She even treated Sharon to a fancy dinner. Afterward, they caught separate cabs home.
When the maid saw her walk in with arms full of shopping bags, she looked startled but came forward to help.
Becky dodged her. “There’s more outside. Go grab those.”
A few maids ran out and soon returned with even more bags.
Becky collapsed on the sofa, panting. One of the maids handed her a fresh glass of juice. She downed it in one go.
“So good.”
A sharp voice rang out.
“What’s all this? Who bought all that?”
Becky looked up.
A girl in a tight little skirt was standing in the doorway.
Who was this?
She thought for a moment.
Oh. Yvonne Bolton.
Xavier’s sister.
