Chapter 10 So You’re Saying Divorce Means You Can Sleep Around?
Becky glanced around the flashy luxury car and said, “Jose, drop me off at Westview Pavilion. Thanks.”
“Sure.”
Jose tilted his head, sneaking glances at her.
Something felt different about Becky.
Before, she wouldn’t even look at him, let alone get in his car.
After the engine started, Jose asked, “How are things going with Xavier?”
Becky fiddled with the little bear charm hanging in the car, replying casually, “Same as always.”
“Is he treating you badly? If he’s bullying you or being a jerk, just say the word-I’ll deal with him.”
Becky laughed. “You sure about that?”
Jose clenched his fist. “I’d do anything for you.”
“We’re doing fine,” Becky said.
They were about to get divorced.
Finally.
When they reached Westview Pavilion, Becky hopped out cheerfully and waved him goodbye.
Jose drove off, reluctant to leave.
The next morning, Becky came downstairs and saw Xavier.
He was back from his trip.
This man truly didn’t see her as his wife.
He hadn’t told her he was leaving, and now he hadn’t told her he was back either. Even the housekeepers knew his schedule-but not his own wife.
Good thing she didn’t like him. Otherwise, she’d be heartbroken.
Becky gave him a lazy wave. “You’re back.”
Xavier looked up.
Becky caught a glimpse of his dark eyes-stormy, heavy like a sky before a thunderstorm. The pressure was intense.

She instinctively took a step back.
“What’s your problem?”
“Never mind, whatever it is, it’s none of my business. I’m going to eat.”
She turned to leave, but he grabbed her wrist. She spun around and immediately tried to kick him, but Xavier held her leg down.
This guy actually had some skill. Her flashy little moves were only good enough to deal with people like
Yvonne.
“Xavier, what the hell is wrong with you?”
“Upstairs. Now.”
He didn’t wait for her to agree-just dragged her up.
Becky thought about the baby in her belly and didn’t want to struggle, so she said, “I’ll walk myself.”
Xavier let go and stormed up.
In the study, he slammed his phone down in front of her.
“Explain this. What the hell is this, Becky? You’re so eager to get divorced because of him? If you liked him, why didn’t you go for him before the wedding? Why drag me into this mess? Now we’re already married, and you pull this crap? Becky, you’ve crossed the line.”
Xavier’s voice was cold.
But if you listened closely, you could hear the restraint in it.
Becky looked down at the phone.
Photos.
They were from yesterday-her getting into Jose’s car.
She checked the sender.
Yvonne.
Trying to stir up drama, clearly.
She looked up. “Xavier, we’re about to get divorced. Technically, I don’t have to explain anything to you. But I will-on principle, and because I don’t want to be falsely accused.”
“Yesterday, I ran into Jose on the street. He had a car. I asked for a ride. We barely said a word the whole time. That’s it.”
“Don’t believe Yvonne’s crap. Nothing happened. And don’t worry-until we’re officially divorced, I won’t cross any lines.”

Xavier stepped closer. “So you’re saying once we’re divorced, you will?”
Becky took a step back to put distance between them. Her voice grew quieter. “What happens after divorce… isn’t your business anymore, right?”
Xavier suddenly grabbed her chin. “You like him?”
Becky frowned.
“Not right now.”
Who knew about the future?
“Let go of me.”
Xavier didn’t move. His dark gaze pinned her like prey.
Becky tried to kick him again, and again he stopped her effortlessly.
“Xavier! I’ll bite you!”
“Try it.”
“Don’t think I won’t!”
“Becky, you disgust me.”
He let her go with a look of disdain.
Becky staggered back, burning with rage.
Did he just say she disgusted him?
Too much.
Way too much.
She couldn’t take that lying down.
She put her hands on her hips and snapped, “I’m disgusting? You’re the disgusting one! What did I even do? Got in some guy’s car? You? Flirting around with Yulia-who knows what else you’ve done! Who gave you the right to judge me?”
When it came to arguments, Becky never lost.
Xavier slammed the door and left.
“Can’t win a fight, so you run? Coward! Weakling!”
Xavier paused at the top of the stairs, clenched his fists, and barely restrained himself from going back to strangle her.
Becky took a moment to cool off before heading down for breakfast.

Xavier was already gone.
The housekeeper said carefully, “Mr. Xavier just got back this morning. He was on a plane for over twenty hours. It must’ve been exhausting.”
As if she cared.
He came back just to fight with her. Might as well not come back at all.
The housekeeper saw the look on her face and didn’t dare say more.
After breakfast, Becky opened her phone calendar and counted the days until she could file for divorce.
She couldn’t take it anymore.
But… she still hadn’t figured out the housing situation.
Maybe if she said a few nice things to Xavier, he’d be generous and give her a share of the assets when they split.
Becky scratched her curly hair in frustration.
Then jumped up and ran to the kitchen.
“Is there any food ready? Pack something up for me. I’m bringing lunch to Xavier.”
The housekeeper was shocked. “You’re delivering food to Mr. Xavier? That’s wonderful! We’ll get it ready right away!”
Becky smacked her lips and waited at the door.
Was she acting totally two-faced?
So what. For money, she’d grow a thicker skin.
Let’s go.
Becky carried the lunch box to Glory Corp.
Just as she reached the entrance, she ran into Kevin and Brendon.
Brendon had one hand in his pocket, glaring at her. “What are you doing here?”
Brendon was one of Xavier’s close friends.
Neither of them liked her much.
Probably thought she didn’t deserve Xavier.
Becky raised the lunch box. “I’m bringing Xavier his lunch.”

Brendon scoffed. “Who’d eat your food? God knows what you put in it this time.”
Becky was exhausted. How was she supposed to defend herself from all the crap the original Becky had done?
Like swallowing bitter medicine with no way to complain.
“This time, I didn’t put anything in it.”
“Who’d believe you?”
“Doesn’t matter if you believe me. As long as Xavier does.”
“Becky, I’m begging you-stop ruining Xavier’s life.”
Becky smiled. “Relax. I won’t be in his life much longer.”
Brendon raised his brows, clearly excited.
“What do you mean? You’ve got some terminal illness? About to die?”
Becky’s face darkened. “You’re the one about to die! I mean I’m divorcing Xavier.”
Brendon was stunned speechless. Kevin rolled his eyes. “Ms. Becky, please don’t joke like that. Wasn’t the last time bad enough? Be a decent person.”
Becky laughed. How was she not being decent?
She was about to explain, but Kevin dragged Brendon away.
Becky followed, but the security guard stopped her. “Ms. Becky, you’re not allowed inside.”
From afar, Kevin looked back at her with a mocking smile.
Becky clenched her fists. That damn goldfish tank! He really had the guards block her!
She sat down on the front steps of the building, drawing circles in the dirt with a twig.
“Becky?”
She turned her head.
Yulia was standing there.
